Expansion packs have changed a lot in recent years. These days add-ons for existing games are sold more or less at their own stand alone products than an extension for an existing product. This is the case with Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising, an expansion retailing for the full cost of a new PC game and which doesn't require the original title to function. So is the cost worth it?
The single player campaign has been extended with a new set of missions focusing on the machinations of Chaos Space Marines appearing in the Aurelia sector. All your levelled up squads from the original game can be imported into the new campaign, and each one can obtain a max level of 30, adding more abilities to the existing roster. Unfortunately, all the wargear you may have obtained during the last campaign has been replaced (with the exception of certain items you have equipped), meaning that any game advances you made with your old squads past levelling them to 20 is virtually lost. Still, being able to carry on with your squad development is a welcome addition, especially as you probably have a preferred strategy for playing your existing team.
