EA Predicts Massive Growth in Online Gaming

Electronic Arts' director of e-commerce has forecast that online game spending could generate in excess of $4 billion (£2 billion) a year by 2010.

At a recent Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE) hosted conference in Brussels, EA's John Burns stated that the popularity of online gaming is set to grow astronomically, largely due to the proliferation of high-speed broadband connections.

Sony will finally do something with PSN and embrace online gaming. Their efforts so far have been lackluster at best. It's a huge market.

I mean, this is kinda stating the obvious...LIVE is huge, the PS3 has a huge percentage of owners going online from what I've read...its become standard practice for me to check my friends list every time I go on, just to see who's on and what they are playing...

Certain games like GRAW 2 and R6:Vegas I have played a ton online versus and co-op and barely scratched single player - GRAW 2 I haven't even started the campaign.

I'm with you.

Playing by myself doesn't provide me with the same level of entertainment as online gaming. Sure, the single player missions should be played to enjoy what the developers originally created. But

I'll get to the single player after I can get myself to stop hitting that Xbox Live button in the menu, or hitting my guide button to check my friends list.

I know you PC gamers have been enjoying this for years, but now it's mainstream you significantly bearded 40 year old basement lovers.
