When Apple revealed that the iPad ran a modified OS 3, developers across the world sighed in relief. This new device would indeed run almost every single iPhone app in addition to all-new iPad content. In fact, not only would the iPad run your iPhone apps, but you could upscale them to double-pixel so they filled the entire screen rather than just an iPhone-sized window in the middle of the 9.7" tablet display. So, the iPad would essentially launch with a 35,000+ game library. And it did.
