Valve has released Steam's top ten sellers list for the week ending on April 3.
They should release some actual sales numbers already. According to this, Bad Company 2 on PC has about three times as much multiplayer activity as 360 and PS3, yet all you ever hear is how badly PC retail sales are doing. http://bfbcs.com/pc
I'd be interested in them as well, retail only says so much about pc game sales figures. DD is in full swing now, the numbers would probably be quite impressive.
80% is digital now according to PC Gaming Alliance.
At peak times there are about 900,000 ppl playing the PC version.
Only 300,000 copies were sold at retail. That says alot about where the rest of the copies were purchased.
Also lets not forget games sold via digital outlets are much much more profitable for the developer. No packaging costs, no transport cost, retailer(the middleman gets cut out, its far more costly to maintain a physical outlet and pay its expenses then to have an online retail shop), almost no advertisement cost either. Its a developers dream to sell this way.
