Splinter Cell Conviction Demo on Realism

One of the best MGS features was that it was upto you, as to how you wanted to play it ^^

I've never really been into Splinter Cell but I hope we see a Ps3 port!

but I only play twice. The first time through I picked up that enemy's guns, when straight through the basement door and player it like a shooter. The mechanics worked well, but it didn't free like Sam Fisher. On the second play through, I decided to play more stealthy: I did not pick up any guns; I only used my silent pistol and my hands; I climbed through the back window as he did (only there was a guard at that window, who I grab and tossed out the window; then I took care of the rest with my pistol. I did not use the mark option as much, as I am use to doing SC games the hard way. If the game has a lot of enemies in some areas or if there are high achievement awarded, I might consider using it more. He did a great job though.

I still haven't played this, but I'm really meaning to. As soon as I finish Perfect Dark so I can review it, I think I'll try this.

But yeah, its really cool that you can do different styles of play to beat the levels. A lot of games claim you can use different styles, but few actually deliver. Most games that claim that, each level is designed with a specific style in mind. Like Modern Warfare, kinda implies you can go stealth or guns blazing or whatever, but each level pretty much dictates what you'll do.

brandynevils...I agree, it's an original idea and from what I have seen in the demo it is a cool way to give you updates without reading little script texts during the action. I hope more games employ this type of story telling.

ASSASSYN 36o, mofo, let me just point summin out, id admit the game looks poohy, but i hav also said (in past comments) that i like the writin on the walls, its a cool touch, other then that it hasnt got anthinelse goin 4it (my opinion) looks a little meh

Novel concept indeed, but it breaks the immersion for me. I'd rather see better integrated visual clues than "DO THIS HERE" messages. I guess I need to see how the full game plays out before anything though.

I like the objective overlay on walls and stuff too. I think it's a cool way of integrating everything you need to move ahead in the game.

Is it terrrible that I had no idea that outside pipe was even on the warehouse? No wonder I always get caught.

Yeah, I found that randomly on my second play through. I also didn't realize that you could shoot that thing off the ceiling and kill those two guys. That is what I love about games like Splinter Cell, it can play out differently every time you play it.

It's just a shame the pc version was pushed back. But seriously, who didn't see that coming...

the demo disappointed a bit, but seeing how this guy played made me try it again and the fun of the y kills is pretty good, hopefully the full game looks a bit more polished though.

how you cant get through the demo without killing anyone. That was one awesome thing about the last great splinter cell game which was chaos theory. For me the mark and execute is kinda cool but takes some of the fun out of the game but thats just my opinion.

Just like you can move the bodies anymore. But these bastards just kill your daughter. I would think the last thing you would be thinking about would sneaking pass. Saying that, I prefer having the option still there. The more options the more immersive and re-playable a game is for me.

I got through the demo without killing anyone but the 3 guys you HAD to kill at the beginning, it took a while but I didn't alert anyone.

Fanboi hater and Bigpappy - I had played with lesser body count. Meaning without using the pistol. First part was an a tutorial. Went through the fence and went towards the building. But I turned around and hide, through the sticky camera in the area of the guards. Activated a noise to sound. I distracted the 3 guards before going in the front door. Ounce through the door, I grabbed the guard as a shield and through him into the dark against the blacked out window. Shot at the object hanging from the ceiling. Shot out the light in the room. Took out one last guard by hand. The rest had already moved towards the area of the "big noise." Then into the room to slide down the poll. So, What what I am saying is ... if you use more gadgets (or fire your pistol at a near by object) for distractions and grab a guard or 2, bring them into the dark to knock them out. You still have the feel of the Splinter Cells from before.

yeah I guess I didn't use the gadgets as much as I should have. I guess I just felt like i should be able to get through without incapacitating anyone or at least feel like the game wanted me to be sneaky instead of kill everyone. I guess I am more disappointed by the fact that the game feels like its catering more to the casual crowd. Maybe the rest of the game will be different but I guess we'll have to see.

From what I have read, this demo was set up for the purpose of familiarity of the game tactics. In the final game ... Outside the warehouse you actually will be involved in a interrogation.
The developer and the team have designed the game to allow the player to choose how they want to approach each situation. But I am sure there will be moments were stealth will be a lesser choice. The game tactics usually corresponds with the story line of the moment.

i think i'll pass on this and get alan wake, i need something with a challenge and worth my money

You can tell the game has been dumbed down big time from the original Splinter Cells, which is sad..

How everything is pointed out with 'jump' and stuff it just seems like they've copied Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I've played on the demo, and the only noticable thing I notice is that you die quicker when shot, that's it really.. And even that isn't varied that much.

I played in many different ways, stealthy, all guns blazing, only using execute moves, and each way the AI is dumb, they repeat sentences if you're in the same area for a while, they don't see you if you stand right in front of them, a lot of things have been taken out of the game for the casual gamers and the game just feels a lot more like Batman/Bourne Conspiracy inbred, thing.. Personally if the whole game would be like the demo I predict it getting around 7's.

And personally, I don't think it'll make a mark on Metal Gear Solid, but hey that's my opinion...

You can still play and take down enemies without using the ME move. Just like previous Splinter Cells. :)

i haven't tried the demo yet, and i really liked the old games, i liked the idea that you're a human being
and if you go rushing on dudes attacking them, you won't survive and you have to use every skill you got
but this game just makes it look like another tps game, a badass hero, who's unstoppable
anyways, it's just a demo, until the game arrives and i see some videos and reviews and hopefully, better AI, i'll consider this game on the buy list

but, what LennyRodders said, pretty much looks like it's gonna be the final verdict on the game.

Go ahead and try the demo several ways. Understand it is a staged demo, set up for the purpose of familiarity of the game tactics. For an example; In the final game ... Outside the warehouse you actually will be involved in a interrogation. So, it doesn't fully represent the full game (lesser bugs with AI, I imagine).

the writing on the walls for the objectives in a way does break the immersion like someone said, its almost like you are being lead by the hand to me, at least that how is appears....no sure if I like that or not. I understand its for not just walking aimlessly, but not sure abut this.

I would have to agree with you on this. It would be nice if the body copy was smaller in type size. Also allowing more background to show through the body copy. But when your busy playing, it becomes less distracting rather quickly.
