French Site, Overgame sat down with Quantic Dream for an interview with their recent announcement of thier partnership with Sony and their upcoming title. Continue.
"Yes, obviously. Skepticism doesn’t worry us at all because I think that other people would have told us that they were skeptical about 360’s chances if we had chosen this console. Today, the console that seels the best is the Wii. Great. Now, if I don’t release my game today, I’ll do in two years. How will the market be like on two years ? I have the feeling that analysts still have very different opinios on 360’s and PS3’s positions in twi years. There still are people that think that the Wii will still be the console with the bigger install base ; I doubt it. Andbetween the 360 and the PS3, I think the PS3 is gonna win. But anyway, my opinion, for this gen, is that we will have a market with three important actors, and I think this is a very good thing. It will be much more balanced than last gen." @Odidin below: a good game should be good no matter which console it's made for, what's sad is your attitude. I have every intention of playing Bioshock.
i meant i won't be playing it because i don't own a PS3 nor can i afford it in the forseeable future, I just leased a house and tution is due soon so I am pretty much strapped for cash till next summer
Don't worry Odion, I doubt this game will be out before the next summer. They've just signed the contract the other day.
its a shame i did want to play Heavy Rain i guess not now
nice 2 know.
so it might not be heavy rain? his not confirming it or anythin..it might a new different game but not revealing at e3..i jus wish they would jus stright out and say it..but oh well ps3 is gettin a exclusive game..so im happy..
It made a lot of sense when he talked about the balance between the chances of making more money going mulit-platform at the risk of a lower quality game. Good stuff! I truly look forward to HR.
The PS3 is still the lead platform, and we still get an and exclusive game, its WIN WIN!
its not official yet but im going to keep my fingers crossed. if it ends up being multiplatform i guess more people will get to enjoy a great game. win-win i suppose.
loudninja that sounds sad
At least get the games title right before the article is posted. The game is called Heavy Rain and not Heaven Rain.
Haha, I can't believe those guys took my translation and didn't even cite where they took it from. Here it is guys http://www.neogaf.com/forum... Made a few corrections and I think it's more comfortable to read over there.
As Sony said, "they do not buy exclusives". The developer came to Sony. That is a good sign that Sony might even get more exclusives in the future.
Sony is already getting other exclusives coming to them from Japan. Not sure if you caught the article last week, but there are 3 rpg's coming out in Japan this year! Out of no where it seems like b/c I sure hadn't heard about them before. But if they're import friendly I'll definitely be checking them out. And with heavyweights like Free Radical aligning themselves with Sony as well... the future bodes very brightly for Sony's console.
Kool interview. Cant wait to play Heavy Rain. I LOVE both Omikron and Indigo Prophecy.
oh well time will tell. maybe its a blu-ray thing. i.e. a non-game game. loads of cutscenes with minimal gameplay. waiting...............
Even if the xbox 360 is in the lead in two years, it's lead will be marginal. I've got a feeling, just like the article, that there won't be one true clear winner this gen. Which is pretty good for us gamers. Either way, I'm glad the PS3 is getting another exclusive.
@nice_cuppa Actually there have been lots of speculation over the last 3-4 mths that the PS3 is going to beat the 360 overall but by a much smaller margin than last gen... speculation from devs, industry analysts, & gaming sites. I check out this site & gamesindustry.biz quite regularly... and NO ONE believes that the 360 has a chance at coming in 1st place, so from a business perspective on a game coming out 1-2 yrs from now, it does make sense. After being out for nearly 2 yrs, 360 sales are pretty stale and have never indicated the kind of popularity of a leading system even when it was the only one out. Most analyst suspect that it is b/c most ppl are still waiting for price drops on the ps3 or buying up the wii instead. The 360 still appeals to a very narrow fanbase much like the original xbox.
You do realize the ps3 is in last...that means it is losing...that means it sucks. Ignore reality all you want it will bite you in the a55 real soon.
Maybe its the 100+ million still waiting to choose a platform that need asking which one they want....
Your too much of an ignorant fanboy on why this game cant come to any other console Assisyn 36o...
that means it sucked too by your logic. c'mon the install base does not determine the value of a system. last gen i played halo and i didnt give a crap what the install base 4 the ps2 was. this generation is a funny generation.
This "generation" will have some very hazy lines if Sony intends to back the PS3 for 10 years, which I believe it can. Both Microsoft and Nintendo will have come out with a new console, and the PS3 will all of a sudden flip sides in a few years and become the cheaper of the three. The PS3 could actually end up with a bigger install base than the PS2. Believe it, especially if get gets a 10 year lifespan! Yes, Sony's PS3 may get outdated by the two newer consoles released but it has staying power (HD disc drive and expandable hard drives). The only reason I think the the two companies will have to come out with new consoles in the next 3-4 years is because A. The Wii is already outdated compared to existing consoles B. The XBox360 has everything except the ability to expand your hard-drive in a logical manner (who wants to pay 180 bucks for 120 Gigs). Also, a HD disc drive would help. These can both be fixed but would mean rolling out ANOTHER SKU.
This is the type of game that no other console is going have. The closest thing to this game is like a silent hill, but again that's not even almost the same game
It just seems to me like this developer is really genuine about his choice, and trying not to biased even though he chose Sony. Good read, gave me a little more faith in the PS3
has me very pumped, but a part of me is kind of hoping that the exclusive *ISN'T Heavy Rain. i'd love to have Heavy Rain to look forward to (i imagine it'd be awesome no matter what the platform), and then a second, PS3 exclusive also. either way, i'd be a happy camper. though, for the record, i'm thinking the exclusive is, indeed, Heavy Rain. great interview, even though it was hard to read at times (grammatical errors aplenty).
