Mafia II UK Release Date Announced

Through a compelling narrative, Mafia II promises to transport gamers into the dark and unforgiving world of the Mafia. The fiction is embellished by a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere that meticulously replicates the clothing, cars, music and advertising of 1940's and 1950's Americana. Players will become immersed in the game's cinematic Hollywood-style experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing metropolis. By fusing high-octane gunplay with white-knuckle driving and an engaging narrative, Mafia II looks to be the industry's most compelling Mafia title to date.

im looking forward to this but I reckon LA Noire will be better, this all looks a bit stereotypical Italian mobster stuff

I think the film-noir style of LA Noire is more appealing

How was it again you "know" it is going to better?

The premise and developer is plenty. Maybe gillri should have said, 'I will prefer' rather than 'will be better' but I agree that LA Noire looks like it'll be more enjoyable. Put it this way, if you told me the Coen brothers had made a Noir film and Michael Bay had made a movie about giant robots from outer space I already know which one I'd prefer (the Coens film, just in case anyone thinks I'm a Bay fan). It's not a fool proof system and you could always be surprised by a shoddy piece of work by the people you respect or a great work by people you don't but in practice it's fairly safe to make judgements based on the people creating something and the premise of the thing they're creating.

Not that I'm saying this game looks like the work of Michael Bay. It looks great but it does strike me as another game in a style I'm a little sick of. As far as I can recall the closest thing we've ever had to a Noir type of game is the old Blade runner game so I'm more desperate for something like LA Noire.

At least I have plenty time to get some money together for this game.
