good for people whom still play
Yeah, all 3 of them can rejoice. The busted multiplayer system in this is what kept me from a platinum trophy.
Cool, I still play the game. The multiplayer is far from perfect but it's very addicting for me, I just have to play some Cops n Crooks or Turf Wars every few days.
i played only upto 33%... after that i just quit. best decision ever!
All 3 of them... Lmao I think You'll find that hundreds of thousands of people still play the multi-player on a daily basis.
GTA4's been collecting dust for almost a year already. It set the impossible to surpass bar as the most overrated game ever. 98/100 what a joke, it's much more like 80-85. If the expansions are substantially better I'll give them a try when they reach the bargain bin.
Wow they have finally released an update. These problems have been plaguing the game for months and months.
I seriously doubt hundreds of thousands of people play GTAIV on the PS3 daily. It's been broken since launch on PS3. Stats not recording being my biggest complaint.
To my knowledge PS3 stats like this aren't readily available, but GTA4 was the #8 most played game on Xbox for the week of March 15, sitting between COD4 and Gears 2. Not mind blowing position but clearly it still has a pretty substantial community playing.
Yeah, on 360, where it has Gay Tony and a properly functioning multiplayer. This article is about the PS3 version, which like I said, probably doesn't have many active users.
Oh...My...God. Remember when we were first able to add 100 people on PSN? Long time ago right? Well, if you had over 50 friends, you couldn't invite/join ANYONE. Good job Rockstar. Finally taking care of business. Just a few years late though. xD
who plays this game anymore?
Only the base souls of those gamers whom are lost and damned.
IMO - GTA4 is the BIGGEST, BEST & HIGHEST selling AVERAGE GAME of all time. San Andreas set the bar!!!
I prefer Vice City.
Vice City was my favorite GTA
It only took 2 years, but yeah. Thanks for not forgetting about your fanbase, of which most have already moved on to bigger and better things. But it's the thought that counts.
I just hate the "auto-aim" in multi-player. Basically, the higher ranked players could easily kill you 100 meters away with a sub machine gun with pin-point accuracy. I remember setting up my game without the auto-aim and it evened out the playing field (to which they left quite disgustingly, HAHA). And then there's the "rank-reset" bug where all your hard efforts are reduced back to square-one and only go back once in awhile. Stopped multi-player then. -End statement
Sounds like Call of Duty to me.
- custom tracks added * This needs to be the next easy update.
3 weeks ago. Perfect Timing LOL
I never understood why you guys don't like this one. Was it because it was too popular or what? Honestly, this is the only GTA I like. III, Vice City, and San Andreas had little-to-no plot, terrible graphics (even on PC), and extremely repetitive missions. Bully was the first game I really enjoyed by Rockstar. Then, GTAIV. GTAIV has an actual storyline, characters you love, gorgeous visuals, still unmatched gameplay mechanics, and variety like none other! So...you guys had a problem with what exactly? Do you not want a good plot? Cuz we can go back to the way things were. It's like they replaced Keanu Reeves with Jimmy Stewart...and you're complaining about the acting. What's wrong with that picture?
Honest Question: Did you actually play the story from San Andreas? I thought the plot was better in that one by far.
This game was gimped so it would fit on a dvd for the 360... Other than that I still play multiplayer the odd time, cop killing and seeing how long we can last. If theres a few players then it can be great fun.
I agree, GTAIV was the first game I started taking ROckstar seriously, because they took themselves seriously. I'd love a completely mature, adult game with no funny adverts or billboards, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
GTA IV is the best in the series because it took a realistic route in which i like very much. Also, it had a good storyline and amazing gameplay i just hope that they add more variety in what you can do this time around in the upcoming GTA V like robbing a store (Saints Row)
i enjoyed GTA 4 . The people who keep comparing it to san andreas are wrong IMO ..both are great games but each has it's own approch on how to do things . This patch is a little too late i agree
Dont be silly man. How can you say GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas were rubbish and repetitive? GTA 4 had the MOST REPETITIVE missions of them all! Everyone knows that. You are real crazy for saying that and you certainly aint no real GTA player or else you would not be saying that! GTA 3 - Now looking at it, it looks limited in terms of it's gameplay features, but it is totally irrelevant to what GTA 3 meant to gamers back then. It was the first GTA in 3D and the first game of it's kind, a free-roaming, open-world city, crime/gangster/action game. This is the title that made everybody love GTA to begin with, because everyone was was new to this new type of genre. It totally blew everyone away, including myself. No one had ever experienced a game like this before - this is what made GTA what it is today. GTA Vice City - The best GTA title ever made. It had the best storyline, the best missions, the best setting, and the best characters. It had a brilliant selection of 1980s hits for it's soundtrack to complete the excellent make up of the game. The gameplay was the best out of them all and it was TOTALLY varied - the FIRST GTA to have gang wars, take over territory, buy/own businesses and property, rob stores, sell drugs, change clothes, motorbikes. How can you say Vice city was repetitive and rubbish? You must have been on crack to say that my friend! GTA San Andreas - The second best GTA title ever made, due to it's huge size and added variety of gameplay that was already present in Vice City. The game was just HUGE, a whole state with three major West Coast Cities, varied landscapes like forests, mountains, valleys, deserts, rivers, coastline etc. It took gang wars to another level buy allowing you to directly recruit gang members and take control over entire neighbourhoods and sections of the city. The customization options are the best ever in a GTA game - lifting weights, jewllery etc. This time you could burgle houses aswell. The gameplay was in NO WAY repetitive. The soundtrack was just as good, perefct for the era the game was set in. You had that long cross country race, the dancing in the clubs, man how can you say it was repetitive? You dont know nothing! GTA 4 - I'm not gonna talk too much about this. All I have to say is that I enjoyed it and I liked it, but I still felt letdown and dissapointed at the same time, more so than the former. It had a good storyline, set of characters, brilliant character animation and physics, and probably the best-looking game rendition of NYC ever. But the game was lacking in too many areas and this is the GTA that was VERY REPETITIVE. GTA 4 regressed rather than progressed unlike the previous-gen GTA titles. Therefore it's the worst one of them all and with all of this current-gen advanced PS3 tech at it's disposal, Rockstar blew the chance to make the best GTA ever. I'm gonna buy Liberty City Episodes for my PS3 so hopefully R* can redeem themselves with me there. Leon S Kennedy throw away that glass pipe and throw away them rocks. It's messing with your head! EDIT: @ Dark Witness - you could shoot someone in the head while they driving and see them slumped dead on the steering wheel in GTA San Andreas. That was always possible to do in San Andreas if you ever played it, GTA 4 was not the first.
Yeah. See...that's the problem. Judging by your grammar, you're down with "the thug life" anyway. Those are the only people that enjoyed San Andreas. The storyline can't be taken seriously at all. I've considered taking Eminem seriously...but not this. Vice City is the best of the old ones. Two words: Phil Collins. Still, not much can be said for them. The characters have plastic personalities, the missions ARE repetitive, and gang fights? Who fricking cares about gang fights? What are you, five?
Nevertheless, I'm still gonna say my piece as this what N4g is for. You said this in your earlier comment: "Yeah. See...that's the problem. Judging by your grammar, you're down with "the thug life" anyway. Those are the only people that enjoyed San Andreas" What was wrong with my grammar? I spoke normal, standard English, there was no use of any kind of street or hip-hop slang, so what so-called 'thug life' was you looking at? And whats your problem? Many people enjoyed San Andrea, including suburban, IT geeks who spend they're whole lives in front of a PC screen. The game gained worldwide acclaim from gaming industry critics and professionals and it sold a record amount of millions of copies. If they happen to be down with "thug life" too, then so be it, deal with it. You said earlier: " Vice City is the best of the old ones. Two words: Phil Collins. Still, not much can be said for them" I can agree with you saying Vice City was the best of the old ones at least we are on the same page there. But this just goes to show much you know about GTA in general - there were no Phil Collins tracks in Vice City's soundtrack. There is nothing Phil Collins-related in Vice City. Just look how silly you sound. And finally your most silliest comment has to be this you said earlier: " And gang fights? Who fricking cares about gang fights? What are you, five? " You big dummy. What the hell do you think the GTA were supposed to be about? The main themes of GTA games are ALL based on organized-crime and criminal gangs. That was the main selling point of the franchise to begin with. Dont you know this? Or are you so brainless and retarded? Many people cared about gang fights missing from GTA 4, ask anyone major GTA fan, they will tell you that was one of the major missing features of GTA 4. Many fans also complained that they could'nt build up their own gangs and take over turf, thats what Mafias and other criminal gangs do in real life, they have fights, wars and kill each other for territory and money. Whats being a 5 year old got to do with it? What if I had said, "who cares about bright coloured space-suited heros killing make-believe aliens?", does that mean you are a fool for liking Halo 3? Of course not. I think you are forgetting that GTA is just a game and it's a crime-based game, but gang fights happen in real life criminal societies anyway, so your point is invalid. You're the friggin'5 year old here. You are seriously brainless and retarded and this clearly shows Mr Kennedy.
"III, Vice City, and San Andreas had little-to-no plot, terrible graphics (even on PC), and extremely repetitive missions." Welldone, you win........ the prize for the most inaccurate comment I have personally ever read. GTA4 was massively overhyped, and the biggest mistake r* made was listening to the fans. Clearly the people don't know what's good for them. Official general has already put you in ya place so i'm not gonna drag this out, but criminals don't care about meeting some twat down the pub, and yardies don't get upset when you don't wanna play pool with them. How dare you say that gta3, san andreas or vice city had bad graphics ya dumbass. for me personally:Gta3 was probably the best single player game ever to grace the ps2, and Liberty city stories multyplayer on the psp was the most fun I've ever had in any game, ever, ever, ever. P.S I'm sorry for calling you a dumbass but the reasons people had no love for gta4 are totally valid, looking at you driving physics and fruity storyline.
who plays this game especially on ps3 when there is so many better games now
Nah, GTAIV is a landmark game. And I still play it with my drinking buddy - seeing who can get the most stars etc... It always surprises me, that after 70+ hours in story mode, and god knows how many hours hot-seating, we will always find ourselves in a p[art of the city I've never seen before, or see an NPC do something we just didn't know they could do.
@ Corrwin you said it best man. it kind of makes me sad the way people knock gta, but it's nice that some people can appreciate it. In my eyes it's only failing was not allowing to do more of the random stuff you could in other GTA's not being able to buy property or like learning different fighting styles. some of the crazier stuff. but what they did technically with the engine, plus some of the AI for the npc's and just the way the city feels alive. and look at the ways the cars take damage or the way you can shoot a guy in the head as he is driving and watch him slump over. such great detail are unmatched in my opinion.
with these narrow minded HATERS that they hate it (ok) bash it (ok) and don't want anyone to have fun with it (WTF) get the F*** out of your private universe, some say only kids playing and noobs playing mw2 etc...... grow up
wow,to late id say lol.
I know it's mainly for the release of the DLC, but it's damned nice of them to fix some bugs whilst their at it. They even added Trophies when there was no inclination, other than just being nice. Unlike Volition, their GTA alternative Saints Row II still has no trophies, but plenty of paid-for DLC they'd love that you buy.
Any news on the GOTY edition (GTAIV+2eps) all on a BRD?
I haven´t finished it yet, i´m on 25%. So i guess i´ll finish it now, and sell it for sake of U2 and GoW3. Wanna hear the best part? I finished Shadow of the Colossus this morning, after 4 years of owning it. Fahrenheit, here i come!!!
Well, I'm proud of you. SotC is incredible!!!
I owned it for years and I couldn't get past the first giant because I couldn't really understand what to do; it seemed like I had to jump in a sequence and hold on and wait, so I just gave up after trying for like a few days in a row and set it aside. Then last year, I tried it again, same thing, except the last game before selling it or giving it away or whatever, I just grabbed a bunch of fur from an exposed leg or side or whatever and just started climbing up. I got three to five of them buggers in a day, and then I finshed the game playing on and off in a week. One of the best gaming experiences I had.
When it comes to trophies, I was a very low percentage. I didn't bother Platinuming because I knew there was some issues with the online trophies. Maybe I'll try again.
Besides for Free Roam. GTA4 online was awful. Well the game itself was really average.
wtf took them so long for this patch??
DID this patch fix the trophies? they are a pain in the ass to get.
GTA4 was ok and I'm looking forward to The Episodes of Liberty City in 3 weeks time.
I just want the GOD Mode Cheat and No Cop Cheats. The ones that really matter....I don't care what time of day it is or what the weather is like....I just want those cheats.
If not then i dont care
Thank goodness they fixed these bugs straight away instead of leaving them for almost 2 years!
Gamers complain about everything these days. Rockstar is still supporting the game. What's wrong with that? Anyways, yes a lot of people still play this game on both systems. And with the expansion coming out on PS3, more people went back to GTA 4 to beat it or buy it. I think personally GTA 4 was excellent. And deserved all the praise it got. Mission might have had a little repitition, but nothing like it had before in the previous games. They added a beast of a multiplayer. I think the game still looks great and plays great. I can see all the hate because its like Halo, its one of the most popular series out there. And when it's that popular gamers like to pick at it. The sales of this game speak enough. And the amount of detail and programming that went into this game is crazy. Very few games go to that extent. Story was the best so far.
I agree totally.
