Microsoft Corp., which trails Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. in game-console sales in Japan, will offer its new Xbox 360 model at a cheaper price in the country than in the U.S. to help gain market share.
This may boost sales in Japan a bit, but chances are though the sales won't go through the roof.
this is not just a Microsoft thing. ; )
and sony also did the same they offer the ps3 in japan at lower price so what is the new news ???????? edited: many has not opened the link and just start adding comment , once you open the link you will realize it is not price cut it just states that the Elite will go in sale in japan for lower price than the US nothing more.
Every little bit helps

Every little bit helps ----------------------- agreee ------------------ disagree ------------------ agreee Ahh just joking but why wouldnt this help?
Just before E3 They'll cut the price in the rest of the world @ E3 @ x360rockhard (below) so which second account of which Sony fan are you exactly? Really. React on a comment or just shut up.
Wow TheMART, you really think they'll do it before Sony? If they do, M$ is going for the throat, and trying to seal the deal. I just don't think M$ will cut price until Sony does, but M$ could come out with some ruthless tactics and it wouldn't surprise me. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just business.
You are an idiot and you make x360 owners look stupid. Lay off man. All you do is argue the negative rather than point out the positive. Shut you mouth already. X360 owner appreciate their consoles and you find a way to make all of us look like we're stuck up MS's ass. No we're not. The console is great, you suck! This is to all you comments, not exclusively to this one - you joke! EDIT: MART None - I just signed up. I've been reading this site for a while and have realized how stupid you comments are. Think a little, fill up your brain, with something other than nonsense.
Now... just need them to hit the States so I can pick up another 360.
did the other one break down?
I don't think it will help much; Japanese take honor and pride in everything Japanese. They don’t want American goods regardless of how good they are, it’s a pride thing.
If they want to improve their situation in Japan, they better hope they're able to land a deal with SE to provide Final Fantasy XIII on the 360. That's the only thing that might save them, and even still it probably won't be enough.
FFXIII's White Engine was designed solely for the PS3. Literally have a better chance of seeing Halo 3 on the Wii.
umm wrong The White engine like 8 months ago was said to work well with multiplatform gaming
they need to cut the price of the core and premium, that'll spur some sales. cutting the price of the most expensive model won't do much.
ok this is good... now all they need to do is cut the prices in the U.S.
MS needs Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest exclusively on 360. Lost Odyssey will help, though.
That would be pretty crazy! Maybe DQX and we'll see about the current FF, but yeah Lost Odyssey will really help out. Blue Dragon did well and L.O. is the same maker only a little darker and we always like a darker story don't we ^^
The price cut marathon starts. Waiting for next move.
This pricecut, combined with news like this: http://www.n4g.com/dev/News... Can seal the deal in the end. Capcom giving 360 love, Namco now. Who's next in line @ E3? Konami? Square-Enix? @ x360rockhard (below) alias MART_SUCKS (do you keep changing your name?) Dude, if you reply, you could try in normal words and with facts. Weakling Been around here for a long time. Have people that talk bad mouth seen come and go. Be sure, I feel threatened by no one. I've survived all kids like yourself that show they're weak by not being able to discuss, only shout, talk bad mouth, scream, etc etc. Go on dude, I am enjoying myself!
Shut you mouth loser! LOL - Hey loser, are you threatened? Another comment to solidify that you're a loser. What does that say about you.
wow the mart who are you to tell people to shut up with your constant ramblings about how the PS3 is bad, do you have stock in MS that you feel like you need to talk so much SH!T? get your hard on for SONY in check and go play your games. with playing with yourself to SONY news and play your games instead, you would be doing this site a BIG favor.
Not surprising at all. The 360 has had an uphill struggle in Japan, and with some first-rate titles coming out, this may be their best attempt at winning market share: Make those new games more attractive by offering the system at a cheaper price. Could this be a prelude to a North American/worldwide price drop?
I concur on all points. I don't think this'll turn the tide or anything in Japan, but it certainly makes things interesting.
For the PS3 you dimwit! its not multiplatform your more dumber than 2 theMarts put together! and of coures theMart is more stupid than usual just because Capcom made a game for the broken down XBox 360 doesnt mean there giving it love besides who on earth would give love for such a crapy console that cant even live for one sec! and Namco Square Enix you would have to be that super retarded to actually believe that theMart oh! wait you are! and who loves the XBox 360 anyway Microsoft doesnt really have fans for crap the only fans they have is the broken down console that you call an XBox 360 while theres alot of fans for Sony that makes TVs laptops electronics and what fans does Microsoft have only the XBox 360 fans that loves a breaken down console and Microsoft doesnt have that much big fans for them I mean who wants to be a fan of a software that have alot of hackers and viruses? Namco isnt giving love to the XBox 360 at all have you forgotten that multiplatform game for the PS3 and XBox 360 doesnt mean there giving love for the XBox 360 it means there making it for both consoles you douche! and Konami doesnt love the XBox 360 they are only going to make games for it but doesnt mean they love it besides alot of those Japanes developers dont love the XBox 360 only the PS3 and the Wii FirstknighT can you be more of a total retard considering you are one Microsoft has all the cards yeah I say they have for failing rate of the XBox 360 that cant even live for one day and Sony doesnt just make money on a console they make money on movies Blu Ray electronics so for those who forgot that Sony makes electronics besides a console they do those things to aswell to make money while the XBox 360 breaks down alot.
Xbox 360 profits $100 each system sold and they're still beating the ps3 in total sales so no hurry for Microsoft. Sony on the other hand are desperate for a price cut. If Sony does cut the price it will mean they wont make any profit from the console for a long time. Either way it's bad news for Sony. Microsoft has all the cards.
constantly spank you little Sony droids. Just trade in your Ps2s and 3s,buy 360s,and spare yourselves the embarrassment, and call it a day.
They probably aren't in the US, They probably feel they can still outsell PS3, especially since they have Halo 3. But who knows.
How many more times i need to remind you damn xbugs.
