Hooray for Star Wars games part 1

Growing up with the Star Wars movies (the original ones) was a blessing for sci-fi nerds since it gave fans a galaxy of adventures and action where the lives of millions depended on the destiny of a single farm boy. Yes, Star Wars was amazing to watch, but it was even better to play in a video game. Over the years, Star Wars has released dozens of games ranging from RTS to fighting and RPG to adventure. Of course there have been some bumps in the road, but overall one can find hours and hours of good gaming with the Star Wars games (Culture, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, PC, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Xbox)

Interesting, I've never heard of that Jedi Academy. I'm not big on RTS and I'm actually kinda sick of Star Wars games, but that looks kinda cool.

Regarding Jedi Academy....
It's not a RTS. Its an FPS that switches to 3rd person when you pull out your lightsaber.

To me, Jedi Academy was the BEST Star Wars games out there. The reason I bought an xbox. If you have a 360, I suggest picking it up. It works in my 360. SUUUUCH a good game.

Try and find it if you haven't played it. It was very well done.

Always wanted to be an ace rather than a Jedi...
Those games on that list were okay (corection: KotOR was awesome).

However, the ones that really stood out to me were the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series. They really managed to capture the feeling of the movies while neither being too arcady, nor too hardcore. I sure hope the rumors of resurrection are correct. I'd love to put on my virtual helmet (ooh... TrackIR support?) and climb into the c0ckpit of a snubfighter once more.

(lol - you can't spell c0ckpit the way it's supposed to. Fail filtering FTW)

I LOVE the rogue squadron games, thats gonna be on the next list.
And oh man, if I wrote that academy was an RTS, that was a mistake. I meant that for Galactic battlegrounds, I must have put that in the wrong paragraph

My favorite star wars game ever is DARK FORCES 2: JEDI KNIGHT
Dark forces 2: Jedi Knight is the best starwars game EVER. I think this game started the good/bad side(dark/light) system that is in so many games today.
