As with previous incarnations, the plot and details of FF are mind-bending but it's a start to outline that this time round you deal with Lightning and her quest to prevent the purging of Cocoon, a mechanically constructed 'paradise' city created 1,300 years ago above Pulse, the lush vegetation (and big monster)-filled world below. After a big old ruck, citizens are banned from acknowledging or even visiting Pulse. So, Lightning, together with the resistance movement and the help of Snow (boy) and Vanille (girl) set to put things right. 9/10
