Game Critics: Heavy Rain Review

GC writes: "The above excerpt is from an interview I did with Machinarium lead designer Jakub Dvorsky, responding to a question about the future of point-and-click adventure games. While I don't have any idea if Heavy Rain was the kind of game he was alluding to, it certainly fits the bill (along with its spiritual predecessor Indigo Prophecy) as an evolutionary step forward from the adventure games of ages past." (Heavy Rain , PS3) 4/10

Where is the score? I'm scouring the page and don't see a score anywhere. I then looked at some of their other reviews and don't see scores anywhere.

Edit: Oh. I found it. It was written in white on a white background so the only way to see it was to highlight the page and then it was visible. Weird.

Also, this review is trash. Same score as Deadly Premonition? Give me a break. All he does is complain that the story isn't feasible. Who really cares. It's still an engaging experience, when your character is afraid, YOU are afraid, and you'll find yourself curious, interested, and mystified for the whole game. The experience was unforgettable for me. I mean, the game isn't perfect by any means, it's actually got tons of flaws, but that doesn't really matter for this experience because it still manages to engage the player in the shoes of the characters you play as better than just about any game I've ever experienced, and the sheer scope of what they were trying to accomplish would be impossible to pull off perfectly. I wouldn't give it a 10 for those reasons, but it's definitely a piece of work that deserves more than to get shat upon like this.

I'm about half way through the game and it's AMAZING so far. OK, it's my opinion, but how about most of the reviewers giving it 9s and 10s? 4 out of 10 is ridiculous. I can only see pre-teens not having at least some comprehension for this kind of game. Assuming that the author is an adult, I seriously wonder about his motives for scoring it so low.

Ouch
Motives for the score? What about "hey people, look at me, I'm here... pls, anyone...?"
