This photo was taken from Motomu Toriyama's panel entitled "The Crystal Mythos and Final Fantasy XIII." Don't think too hard about it.
LOL oh my goodness
Heck, i can now imagine, what Square Enix meant when they said they took inspiration from games like Modern Warfare 2 when they did Final Fantasy XIII.
Lol Hitman and Tomb Raider, I think someone needs to be fired.
Tomb Raider and Hitman RPG's to be announced at E3!!!!! >:D
my balls are falling off in a result of me laughing so hard
That Explains Everything, They can't even recognise Game-Genres lol
Funny thing considering neither is as linear as FFXIII.
That is classic :)
Hitman and Tomb Raider....WRPG's....really. Good lord Square Enix
Hitman and Tomb Raider are classic WRPGs.
My Laura Croft is a ranger/fighter multiclass.
They're all Eidos/Square-Enix games.
*thumbs up to Lara*
This is such an amazing fail. Good job, squeenix
can't believe they forgot about Oblivion, Fallout and Dragon Age
I don't think they forgot. I think if they had put those games up in the slide people would have said..."hmmm, I see the difference now...WRPGS are better" I kid, I kid.
This is taken out of context! If people read something on the internet they would know that in this presentation he talked about how they got inspiration from these games, and is in the picture NOT comparing Hitman and Tomb Raider against Final Fantasy XIII...
"Toriyama also compared Japanese RPGs to Western RPGs by using screenshots of Hit Man and Tomb Raider as an example. His point was that in Western games, the game is played through the player's perspective, not the character's. In Japanese RPGs, the view is from a third-party bird's eye view." http://gdc.gamespot.com/sto... ...Hitman and Tomb Raider are incredibly terrible examples of that. They probably just didn't want to use another studio's game in their designs.
Maybe by RPGs they literally men Rocket Propelled Grenades....
Actually, it's pretty accurate. Look at Mass Effect 2. A Third Person Shooter with tacked-on RPG elements.
Never knew Hitman & Tomb Raider was RPGs (was they talking about rocket propelled grenades) Also they own Eidos so why bother; One bash Western RPGs, Two they aren't even RGPs
Tomb Raider and Hitman...Wow....Just...Wow...
actually , they were just making sure they used all their own IPs. i,.e square enix. But i think some thing must be lost in translation in that slide, probably more western games vs Japanese games.
