Move: The beginning of the End for Nintendo Wii?

From that distant November 19, 2006, the day when Nintendo began selling in its last home console Wii, the Japanese house crushed the competition by selling to date nearly 70 million units worldwide.Nintendo has always sponsored its home console as a product aimed at a wider audience than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, this mainly due to the genius' s technology for fun and immediate, at the same time could bring together players of all ages, of course we talk about the Wiimote.
With the Wii being unable to compete with the competition at the technical level, they agreed to differ from others thanks to the 'innovative control system, which produced and is producing results beyond imagination.

But what if Sony decides to sell a sort of Wiimote? Is still early to say, the sure thing is that in the 'autumn 2010 will be released on Playstation Move, namely the "Wiimote" for Playstation 3.

As long as we have Zelda And Mario we will do just fine. Hell the Wii DOES need competition.

I'm sure you will always have Zelda and Mario. Nintendo has nothing else, besides rehashing the same game over and over again.

They aren't even sequels, you are playing the same exact story over and over again.

It's sad, really.

LOL! I dont remember orbiting a planet on mario 64, or having Ir control in Prime 1, or having Ir control in WW or OoT. Lets compare GOW 3 with 1&2, the only thing thats changed is the storyline and some new HD graphics, are any of those game changers no. Then lets look at Halo, whats changed since 1? Well the story line got [email protected] up and thats about it, it stayed a generic FPS ( the 1st was awesome). There is more innovation in the supposed "rehashed" games then all of Sony's and MS franchises.

@tunas1

You cant compare GoW3 with 1&2 because probably you dont have a PS3, if you do, most probably you dont have the game. BTW, TITANIC moving levels is a game changer. Oh hell yeah it is.

BTW, GoW is a 2005 game. Mario is a game from the eighties if I remember correctly. With all the money Ninty is making out of the casuals, some new franchises would be welcomed.

Other franchises: inFAMOUS, UC2, HR, TLG, MAG, LBP, Mod NAtion Racers, Demons Souls. All of them first party. I dont want to talk about third party games, obviously it would be too many to list.

Are you forgetting Disaster Day of Crisis, Xenoblade, Dynamic Slash, Endless Ocean, Excite Bike&Truck, Battalion Wars, and the plethora of existing IPs that have yet to appear on the Wii?

more like the begging of the end of the PS3,
say hello to the shovel ware,
Image Babez HD! common Ubisoft, EA, Konomi, start making HD party games.
Once all the sh!ty party games are on the ps3 it will clean the wii's shelf.

I think Nintendo will be fine,
Red Steel 2, NHM 2, MH3, TsVSCap, Fragile, MP:T, Metroid Other M, NSMBWii, Galaxy 2, xenoblade, The Last Story, ZELDA Wii, should I continue?

How will this end the PS3 if it didn't end the Wii? Are you forgetting that the PS3 has by far the better lineup? The Wii only has shovelware and rehashed games.

If the PS3 gets shovelware, it will be ports from Wii games... in other words, the shovelware games are still going to be around for the Wii.

The exception is that the PS3 is aimed at Gamers, while the Wii is aimed at casual players who don't dress themselves in the morning. The shovelware would never sell on the PS3, just like hardcore games don't sell on the Wii.

"When I said "the end of the PS3" i was poking fun at the article and then I commented on the shovelware getting ready to make its way to the ps3, and dont worry Natal will have its shovelware day too.

Its actually ironic from what i've seen the majority of Wii owners are PC gamers and are generally older, while the majority of PS360 owners started gaming on the PS1, just log onto xbox live and higher the volume.

" just like hardcore games don't sell on the Wii."
Please stop deluding your self, unless you consider games that last a whopping 6 hours to be hardcore.

Look, 3rd party Wii games don't sell, BTW, of the games you mentioned, the 3rd party ones might end up being multiplats, there might be version comparisons, Which has better response, u know how the media and internet are like... I'm not into motion sensing, but I think it'll help Sony give Nintendo a run for their money in that case, even if Nintendo is the somewhat market leader.... Natal, I don't know about it, but I think it'll do good knowing MS's use of advertising...About Mario and Zelda, every sequels, despite being different, share the same damn story, one to save Peach and the other to save Zelda, both princesses!!!!!!!!

ZoidsRaven2839d ago

You see them hyping it all over this site. It feels like just yesterday when Sony fanboys were behind Sony's "motion controls are a gimmick" speech.

I can even give a name of one of these hypocrites if someone wants it. I'll give you a hint who this is, his excuse is "at least it's in HD".... Wait, that not a good enough hint since almost everyone is saying it. So I'll just tell anyone who asks for it. 7_7

The "end" of the Wii? That'd require a lot of the Wii's audience jumping to the PS3 for a control option they pretty much already have with Motion Plus (some of those Move demos had noticeable lag, too).

And price would be a factor for new PS3 adopters. Sony finally got the price down to a sweet spot, but now you'd have to pop another $100 on top for the Move bundle. So they're trying to sell $400 worth of gear compared to $200 for Wii (which could easily see another price drop).

Yeah, I think Nintendo is gonna be just fine.

And so will Sony, for that matter.
