Videogameszone shows 5 new images from Monkey Island 2: Special Edition that compare 8-bit classic style with brandnew graphics.
monkey island was the best even when they brought it out on the PS2.
The PS2 one wasn't the best Monkey Island but making fun or Rupert Murdoch can't really go wrong. I just hope they release the first on on PSN as well.
... because of the gawdawfull designed sprites. It seems that for this remake, the sprites look alot better, and being a huge fan of both Monkey Island 1 & 2 (the originals), I'll probably pick this up, if priced right.
^ What are the sprites? I don't know what you mean.
This game was amazing for its time and really not dumbed down compared to what's offered today. Looking forward to this!
I prefer the "8bit" look. It still is charming and the mosaic art style just feels tighter to me. I won't be getting this remake. If they'd release the original I'd pick it up fo sho.
You do know you can switch to the old graphics just by pressing F10? Of course, that assumes you'll be playing the PC version... I don't know if the other versions support this.
Here's hoping they release Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken in the near future.
IMO, the two best LucasArts adventure games ever are Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle - I guess it makes sense for them to "test the waters" with the Monkey Island series before converting a stand-alone adventure game. But I do hope they convert Grim Fandango - it has the best story and art direction of any game and Glottis in HD would be awesome!
I never played those two (stopped playing videogames around that time) but I've heard nothing but excellent things about both games. I'd love to see them re-released too.
Does anyone know a releasedate or the platfroms?
The only thing mentioned on the website is "summer 2010"...
Funny how they call everything not from this gen 8-bit, despite being unable to count.
