MS has the XNA that is slowly growing.
Sony will have something like this with Home and Little Big Planet
Nintendo will have this.

So looks like user generated content is coming around for us all ^^

MS has XNA which enables anyone to make a premium game or XBLA game. Sony is "open", but doesn't provide tools to support user based game creation.

Since Nintendo kept the exact specs a secret, I assume this will make official Wii specs public.

Not necessarily.

It's been known now for awhile the SDK limits developers not the actual hardware.
I believe currently only about 75-80% of the consoles power has been tapped.
Most developers currently aren't even using 50% of the power.

Nintendo hasn't yet released it's optimizing firmware either.

Is it me... or this sound very familiar... it almost sound like the XNA. Just kidding relax... fanboys..
I think this great news... and I hope that Sony does the same. I think this is a trend that will be inherited by next gen consoles from now on. There should always be room for those that like to make their own games to be able to run it on their retail console. Come on Sony you are next!
