'I have this theory as to why the Sonic games are gradually dropping off in quality.
It isn't shoddy design or quality control - although that certainly is an issue. It isn't even those annoying anthropomorphic animals that seem to inflict themselves on you at the end of every level.
I think what the problem is is that Sonic Team still thinks that Sonic is a game for children. They are still making a kid's game.
They're making a game for people who need comedy villains, easy-to-beat enemies and happy endings. For people who think a hedgehog kissing a princess is cute instead of creepy.
What Sonic Team haven't realised is that the majority of their fanbase, it would seem, are all old, sweaty middle-aged men who sit in their parents basements and analyze each detail of each Sonic game and then post about it for hours on-line.
And...well...people like me: people old enough to remember the original games and who want to recapture their youth!'
