8bitfix.com's Aragahsi recently reviewed Heavy Rain for the Playstation 3, here is the first few paragraphs of his review.
"I placed the Heavy Rain disc inside the PS3, awaiting Quantic Dream's latest work. As a highly anticipated game, I had eagerly been awaiting how it would ultimately turnout. A patch and an install later, the game started and I was whisked away into a virtual world of crime. Earlier on, I had predicted boldly that this would be game of the year-whether or not this will come to be has yet to be seen.
Heavy Rain is definitely shaping up to be one of the top hits of 2010 and at the least, a title to be recognized for taking gaming in a different direction. Quantic Dream is not beyond trying to push the Interactive Drama genre-earlier on PS2, XBOX and PC, Indigo Prophecy, a sleeper hit was released and to many it was an interesting experience. Years later we find ourselves thrown back into the choice laden world, they had always wanted, now with a market to support it. The lure of a unique interactive experience would hopefully drive people to play this game, but even now, games like these should be considered a gamble at best in a market dominated by 3rd Person Action and First Person Shooter games.
Peaceful music sets the stage as I began to play Heavy Rain amidst an untimely weather of snow and rain outside. To get you familiar with the controls, the tutorial levels consists of a walk through the morning rituals and a day of architect Ethan Mars' life, a loving family man whose life is drastically about to take a turn for the worst. Skip ahead two years and Ethan finds himself the latest target of the recurring Origami Killer, who takes cues and inspiration from other serial murderers like Gacey, Bundy, the Zodiac and a little bit of Jigsaw for good measure."
