BioShock 2 is a game with hard expectations to live up to. Many hold BioShock as an example of how game storytelling can be nuanced and engaging, and any sequel to such a well-received game has big boots to fill. BioShock 2 fills those boots to the best of its ability, and the end result is something that is paradoxically better and worse than the original.
While BioShock 2 lacks the novelty and shock value of the first game, it improves drastically upon the gameplay and applies the same writing sensibility to a different theme. It is, quite simply, a must buy. It's an accessible, entertaining, thought-provoking, and nuanced game.
