Bioshock 2: The Anti-Bioshock

GamerNode's Matthew Erazo writes, "Don't let the title of this article fool you. This is not some Bioshock 2 bash nor am I going to argue why the original Bioshock did not need a sequel. Quite the contrary. I'm going to argue why Bioshock 2 is actually necessary. The game was plagued with negative comments and assaults from fans of the first game and journalists who would loudly proclaim that, "Bioshock didn't need a sequel."

I was one of them. I hold the original Bioshock very dear in my heart. It's a game that came out at a time when I was starting to become bored with gaming and the industry's lack of change and disregard for a story. Bioshock did a lot to save me, so to speak, and when the sequel was announced, I groaned that this special game was succumbing to the video game franchise machine. It was like my favorite indie movie was getting a blockbuster Hollywood sequel." (BioShock, BioShock 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
