Outsourcing in Voice Acting - Overuse of Voice Actor Nolan North?

Dabe Gordon writes: "Too much of a good thing can get boring and become something undesirable, are we slowly realising this with the onslaught of games in which Nolan North takes the lead role? Read on to find out...

Stop Gaming Voice Actor Nolan North?

Uncharted, Prince of Persia, Halo, Alpha Protocol, Assassin's Creed, Madworld, Dragonage, Call of Duty, Gears of War, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Lost Odyssey, Lost Planet, Army of Two, Dark Void, Final Fantasy, Shadow Complex...the list continues. Nolan North is in demand, and these game series have utilised his voice work, whether through a main character or additional voices.

When does enough become enough, is it down to his own desire to be kingpin of the voice acting in games realm, or is it the onus of developers who lazily hire him to get a milieu of his Nathan Drake personable action cliche?" (Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Dark Void, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Mark Ecko's Getting Up, Metal Gear Solid, Metal gear solid 2, PS3, Xbox 360)

Yeah, I've been hearing a lot of him recently! There are a lot of talented voice actors that I'd rather see get some work :)

Aha. So this is why I keep hearing the same guy in all these games... haha

he's hurting for money or he's no longer hurting for money. But all those games were mainly big sellers. So money shouldn't be an issue for him now.

There are a lot of good voice actors North is very good but he needs to vary his voice and not use the Drake one over and over. He did Sigmund in the lastest Ratchet and Clank game.

He was also in the Saboteur but I didn't recognise the voice and was surprised he was in it.

but he is only known because of uncharted
it doesn't matter how many games nolan north is in. you won't know it's him anyway unless you check the credits.

just like guy:

He use different type of voice acting in the characters, can't be boring, he will not use the same voice acting from Nathan to use it for the next Game Batman Arkham Asylum 2 etc.

Here is the list of all games he worked:

I love how I have no idea who this guy is but know his voice so well.

Lucreto is spot on
I like North as well, but part of the art of voice acting (not that I should know) is ability to do multiple voices.

I really had no idea he was involved in so many games. Nice article.
