Go! Gaming Giant: BioShock 2 Review

From the review:

"Probably the largest fault with BioShock 2 isn't a problem with the game itself; it is simply the fact that it can't quite live up to its predecessor. While it is like the first game in so many ways, the overall experience isn't quite the same because that feeling of entering Rapture for the first time can't be recreated. We already know what to expect, so the city is no longer scary or mysterious to us, which can be rather disappointing because that was one of the most poignant things about BioShock. You can't help but go through the game just knowing that they're going to throw a huge curveball your way at some point." (BioShock, BioShock 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 8/10

I was really surprised by the multiplayer, which wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Sure, it's not all that special or anything, but I thought it would be awful.

same here, BioShock isn't one of those games that screams multiplayer.

Nice reviews, I think most people aren't going to play Bioshock2 for the multiplayer.

Yeah, definitely not. But it's actually good to have if you feel like playing BioShock for a few minutes (perhaps before bed or before work/school) and don't want to worry about getting sucked in for too long.

Great review. Just another game to add to the ever growing list entitled, "Games to play, I don't have any time anymore".

Oh, I know the feeling. I still have a few years worth of games to catch up on. That's why I still keep my Dreamcast and PS2 hooked up. And Wii's Virtual Console only makes things more difficult!

I was talking to my friend the other day and we were discussing how this game is perfect on its own, but as a sequel, it is actually very bad. It all depends on if you view it as its own game or as an extension of the first. Good review.

I certainly wouldn't say it's bad by any means, but I know what you mean and I agree. As a standalone game, it would be just as good as the first one, if not better. But as a sequel, it doesn't quite deliver. Honestly, though, I don't know what they could've done to avoid this; it's very hard to have the same bang when so much of the first game's appeal was its mystery.

ah man, an 8 isnt very good considering the first was amazing. We'll I'll still give it a rent for sure. I had such high hopes for this one...

Actually, I consider 8 to be a fairly high score, especially considering that 9 is the absolute highest I have ever scored a game. But really, it's just a number anyway. It may not be as good as the first game, but it is still very enjoyable.

Bought it but haven't tried it yet.WKC has taken my time. However, the first one was good (overrated) but good and likely the second follows suit.
I didn't personally see the need for a second game by virtue of the originals completeness but it seems irrelevant now....
BS was good and I have little doubt BS2 is as well.
