TenTonHammer: BioShock 2 Review

While improving on many of the flaws in gameplay of the first game, BioShock 2 fails to provide the strong and compelling story that made the original so intriguing. While still a solid game, those who were hoping for the superb twists and an engaging story like the original BioShock will be mildly disappointed. It was a monumental task to give players such an engrossing story again. 2K Marin gives a great effort, but comes up a little short. (BioShock 2, PC) C-/A+

Ok the guy probably havent played the first one or maybe he did not read the logs of Bioshock 2!If you read all the logs you pick during the game like me you can state that Bioshock 2 evolves and explains some of the story and misterys surronding the first Bioshock! If you want blast to the game you can,but if people want to know more they have to read.

Wow, me and this game site must have been playing different games. I loved Bioshock 2, and I personally believe anything lower than a 9 is selling it short... but that's just me.

Bioshock 2 was an improvement and a disappointment. It was an improvement in terms of the combat, dual wielding, and overall fun factor. But it was a disappointment in the fact that it lost it's mystery lure and the story isn't as gripping. The environments also seemed too much of the same.

In Bioshock 1, the best parts is when they make you spectate the NPCs battling each other. I remember how creepy it was when you first got into the tube, and there was a splicer from outside banging on the glass door. Then of course the unforgettable scene where a splicer tries to mess with a little sister, then a big ass Big Daddy comes outta nowhere and drills him.

Stuff like that was not in Bioshock 2, which again makes the game lose it's mystery.

Otherwise, I think Bioshock 2 is a good game, and C- is a bit harsh. The most I'd rate it is a 8/10.

The score is wrong...
They gave it a B+ (82/100) overall. Pretty big typo...

Well consider this...
If you forget about this games predecessor and take it as a new entity, well I think it would be scoring higher than this. I dislike that games from series are no longer rated in comparison to games on the market but more in line with its predecessors.

Bioshock 2 was incredible in my opinion, sure the story wasn't as strong as the first one, but there is less opportunity to make it as good when you are building on top of something. Essentially where the story lacks the gameplay makes up for... tenfold. The game is brilliant and so flawlessly executed.

I have completed it and will be playing through again, this time as evil :D Also the multiplayer is actually rather good :)

So yer, 9/10 for me.

The original Bioshock was massively overrated; it was a great game through Fort Frolic but was rather pedestrian and by-the-numbers in the last 1/3 of the game, which seemed to be compeltely consistently overlooked and ignored by reviewers who constantly said "ZOMG, Game of the 4-EVAR!!!!" I guess they never played System Shock 2, which was clearly the better game. Bioshock 2 seems like it's of similar quality to Bioshock 1 to me. I have enjoyed both and would probably give both around 8/10. It would be nice to see them fix the constant crashing of the the PC version, which I happen to have. It started crashing a ton since they released that stupid patch. It was running fine for me before that.
