David LaGesse writes about why Blu-Ray will win High-Def formats war.
...but in HD this time.
Yet another Blu-ray pwns article. We've heard enough, lets not rub it in anymore
and tomorrow there will will be a headline,"HD DVD has made new strides in the format war!". I'm sick and tired of format war news. They should not approve these stories until there's an unequivocal winner! Can I get an Amen?
Yeah, I thought this site was about news for gamers... wonder what I got that from...
Since the PS3 is only a glorified Blu-Ray player. There certainly aren't any games out for it right now.
but bad for us gamers who want GAMING NEWS.
If you want ONLY gaming news, just don't look at Tech channel.
You don't need to look at the Tech Cannel to see these news.
so after blu-ray has won, all the xbots suddenly become neutral on the format war XD
...and couldn't give a rats about the format war. I would never buy a console to be my dedicated HD player no matter what the format. I sure as hell would never buy a clip on for playback either. My preference has never been towards HD disc formats as I am a big supporter of digital downloads. May not be an option for the masses today but give it 5 years and it will become mainstream. My biggest reason for supporting DD is that I have over 300 DVDs and I'm sick of having to find storage space for the cases. I know, trivial reason but a reason none the less. Strongest reason for supporting DD...convenience. Nothing like sitting back in your favorite chair to watch a movie and being able to select it from a menu of your favorite movies.
the Hd-Dvd camp doesn't want beef..lol
I think it's pretty clear to say that BD has won the format wars.
Digital download is the future and when that time come, Blockbuster will be busted or out of business. Blockbuster near me seems like a gost town anyway, hardly any customer on daily basis.
I think at the end of this holiday season, we’ll know either way. From what I understand, there are some killer, unannounced, movies coming out on HD DVD in the fourth quarter this year. There are also grumblings of a $200 Toshiba player and a price drop for both the XBOX 360 and HD DVD attachment, with the PS3 also dropping to $500. You also have to consider that standalone HD DVD players are outselling standalone Blu-ray players. Of course, that doesn’t include PS3, but it does mean something. I own both a PS3 and a HD DVD player and I haven’t regretted either purchase. But I really have to think, if you can get a $200 HD DVD player or a $500 blu-ray player… I’d rather get the $200 one and spend that extra $300 on a ton of movies.
I heard that DVD sales is in a decline. All thanks to HD discs. HDDVD will be next. it will be shortlived. Bluray all the way ;)
if this holds absolutely true. First the format you've implemented becomes manuf. mandate. Now follow that up with a strong games lineup, innovative features, and you could be headed for smooth sailing ahead. cheers
yawn - ANOTHER HD DVD vs BLU RAY story - who exactly fives a flyin fu(k anyway? there is a million and one of these articles and I am getting sick of them.
You know for all the Blu-Ray fans (sony droids last stand) saying how Blu-Ray has won there sure is a hell of alot of articles showing the war still on and in full swing. I'm going to do a prediction. next weeks news Blu-Ray vs HD DVD, the week after Blu-Ray vs HD DVD in three weeks Blu-Ray vs HD DVD, in two months Blu-Ray vs HD DVD and in a year Blu-Ray vs HD DVD. For all the Sony fans claiming victory. why do we still see Blu-Ray vs HD DVD? You guys just hold on to that hope of Blu-Ray saving the PS3 from going all Dreamcast.
PS3 doesn't need Blu-ray to save it. Just like it doesn't need Home to save it. It's a games machine first and foremost, and R:FOM and Motorstorm so far prove this. Of course, now the war is Blu-ray vs DVD, since HD-DVDEAD is as the name suggests. There has not been a single HD-DVDEAD article saying it can win, only those saying Blu-ray is a step closer (yeah right, it's already over the finish line), or has already won (that's more like it). Hell, even HD-DVDEAD's supporters hope for co-habitation, they know they have no chance. What people don't understand is that Blu-ray will go down faster in price, will always have more and better content and will always be preferred thanks to this deadly first impression.
