GameFlavor describes why the current God of War III and 7-Eleven Slurpee cross-promotion is such a lame deal because of the ill-conceived point system.
meh... I'm saving up for the awesome armor. It's up to people if they want to buy all those sugary drinks. Me, I love slurpees
Reading through your comment history tinman, you actually got the ridiculously expensive ($150 dollars) prestige edition of MW2 that came with the cheap toy NVG. So tell me, who falls for what again?
Biggest size is less than $2 after tax and it gives you 4 points. There were codes for 2 free points going around so I got the Kratos costume for only 2 large slurpees. I drank a lot more for the Home shirts and hoodies. I'm not a fan of slurpees but it's not terrible and it's cheaper than other big sized can drinks at 7-11. Slurpees are cheap and besides the codes u get a drink, don't see why people are complaining. Edit: Taken from CheapAssGamer.com: Slurpee size(s): - 7.11 oz. = 2 points - 12 oz. = 1 points - 22 oz. = 2 points - 28 oz. = 3 points - 40 oz. = 4 points the sizes are only a few cents difference anyway.
is it something to drink?, why does it end with *pee then lol? Anyway [email protected]
love myself a 40 oz...=3
This is for people who already buy slurpees in the first place. I'd get one for the dynamic theme and just wait till i can purchase the armor on the PS Store. BTW, slurpees are $1.50-$1.76 here.
This is BS. 7-11's don't have Slurpee's around here... only ICY's. WTF!? :(
Sadly, none of the 7-Elevens near me are participating in the promotion. I was really excited to get a God of War cup but was disappointed. So the author should stop complaining, at least he has a chance to get the cups, points, slurpee, etc. Edit: ^Same here, we only have ICY's.
@Dude. Everything you drink ends with pee, dude.
This is wrong. The Kratos cups give you 2 points and the larger size cups give you 3. What I hate is you can't use the armor until you have beaten the game once.
I think it's just to encourage you to complete the game as fully as possible on your first playthrough, and just not spam magic / uber attacks and remove the challenge. (Think dairy bastard, and cod of war in the earlier episodes.)
The 7-11 I go to gives out 4 points per cup. 3 cups and I get the armor and Home hoodie.
its almost as if they just COPIED MS points system =( just ripping people off PFF
how much does the dynamic theme cost
6. have it. awesome. burning eyes that will stare you down. xD <_< march needs to hurry up.
Main issue here is that, this whole promotion is to spread the word of GOW 3 and not to increase the sales for Slurpees. I think if you are upset by this then you must have already decided to buy the game, hence u are technically not the target audience for Sony's Slurpee promotion. It is mainly for every casual gamer who buys Slurpees every now and then and haven't heard of GoW. Sure its a rip off for them too, but they are less likely to redeem anything and more likely to just have a greater curiosity for GoW3.
if it works do it. people buy slurpies everyday
because if I recall correctly, halo was being milked because of it's mountain dew drink...
Halo has had 3 games come out from 2007 to 2009. Now add Halo Reach in 2010, and you get 4 Halo games in over 3 years. Don't forget the Halo Anime, the Halo board game, the Halo Mountain Dew, The Halo Books, and all the other Halo merchandise that would take to long to even mention, and that is why Halo is an extremely milked franchise. I guess when you don't have that many exclusives, you have to milk your biggest franchise to death. (Sony doesn't have to milk its franchises like Microsoft does, they have more than one exclusive to distribute throughout the years)
I don't get this whole 'milking' debate. Is Mass Effect being milked because it has 2 games, 2 novels (with another one on the way) and a small comic book series since the first was released in late 2007? I love the back story and lore of Mass Effect, I've bought the novels and comics, and I don't feel like its milking. My point is, people also love the story and lore of Halo, so I don't really see how releasing products to expand the lore is milking. There are only a few circumstances where I would say a franchise is being milked: horror movies such as Saw, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th etc were all milked. You could argue cult films/books such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Star Trek have all been milked too.. but to me those are once again just expanding the story and lore of their franchise. I think I lost the aim of what I was trying to say. Basically, Halo & GoW aren't being milked. :)
If a games integrity is compromised, then it's being milked. It's debatable if halo is 'milking', as from what I can gather, most of the games are still of a high quality. Exactly the same as God Of War.(Even Betrayal, the mobile game had good reviews) Promotion can occasionally stick in the craw if it's shoved down your throat, and those complaining about GOW's advertising seem petty, immature and churlish, especially after seeing the media blitzkrieg that microsoft unleash with nearly every 'major' release. Best thing for the complainers to do is just sit back, accept that a major release will have associated advertising, and not feel compelled to spout sh*t, as there's a major serving of crow just waiting for all you anti-corporate moaners when alan wake / halo reach / etc's advertising campaigns start up. We'll all see how you stand on the 'sour taste' debate then. (And for the record, mountain dew tastes like goat piss.(...i imagine.) ;D
This seems good to me. IT's about time sony....that you advertised something.
No reason to whine. Don't want the stuff? Don't buy a slurpee. Lots of people enjoy slurpees, so why not get free items in the process? Also, my friend got 3 points from a regular sized slurpee today. This article is lying.
I have NO access to ANY of this, and do I care? Nope =P so why should anyone else? I JUST WAN TEH GAME! ='(
"The worst offender is the exclusive Kratos armor, which needs 10 points, so that means you need to spend $14-30 for a simple character costume." HAHA This guy is forgetting that for that amount of money he also gets a few Slurpees as a bonus.
You are buying slurpees, not the t-shirt, or the armor. They are bonuses. 6 months ago, you could buy all the slurpees you want, and you wouldn't get a damn thing, how does that taste? However, I agree with the coffee or hot-chocolate comment.
MARCH 16 R.I.P 360
wasnt it supposed to be the end of the 360 when MGS4 came out, when LBP came out, when uncharted 1 and 2 came out, when Killzone 2 came out...... you get my point?
Visually but that's a bit far. GT5 has a better chance.
what is a slurpie? The "journalist" who write the article is dumb... yo arent buying the articles, you are buying your every day "slurpie" (wtf is a s...) and you earn points. Thats is why they call it a PROMO... dduuuuh... and not "Buy a Armor for Kratos and get free 2 Slurpies" lol
rom the information I've gathered a slurpee is something that makes you obese.
I don't see it like that, you don't go and by a Slurpee because of that extra t-shirt and costume,if you go out with some friends or alone and you want to drink something you can buy that crap and with that comes some extra bonuses, what is wrong with that, nobody is forcing you to buy that, and if you think it like that article your just an idiot who doesn;t know what advertising is
As usual, the same kind of people who complain about free stuff on psn. spoilt people who feel something for free still isn't enough. don't want to buy 4 slurpees for your free digital goody? don't then.
7-11 do all their slurpee promos like this. Last summer I had to get 5 to get a slurpee t. sonds like bashing a promo just because its GOW to me
