Cage initially wanted PlayStation Motion Controller for Heavy Rain

Joystiq:

"Just to prove we're willing to go the extra mile for you here at Joystiq, we taught ourselves Norwegian just to bring you the latest from David Cage's interview with Norwegian publication Dagbladet. Sadly, Mr. Cage's answers were not in Norwegian, meaning we wasted $8,000 and what our instructor Jokkum Frantzberg called "a very good ear for Norwegian." The entire project was not in vain, though, as we managed to find this quote from Cage regarding his upcoming Heavy Rain." (Heavy Rain , PS3)

This sounds interesting
"I have a lot of interest in Sony's motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about it in the coming weeks."

Patch? Or new game?!

This is a little off topic.....

I played the demo last night and now I am thinking about buying it.
I played Indigo Prophecy and I can really see the similarities.

I hated Indigo Prophecy!!

I really can't say why I liked Heavy Rain. It was really slow but it really pulled me in!

Its not that the game play was all that great. I really felt compelled to find the truth.

I never felt that with Indigo Prophecy.

I am defiantly going to buy this game!

It's a feeling you may have watching TV shows. When you watch Columbo, you feel like watching a retro movie and there is no suspense as you know at the beginning of every episodewho is the murderer, why he killed the victim and how he did. The only reason you watch Columbo is to know how Columbo will find the murderer.

While if you watch CSI, you have a crime and during all the episode you discover new evidences, new suspects, new motivations and you must gather everything up to guess who committed the crime. In that case, Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy is Columbo while Heavy Rain is CSI. Both use different approaches of the suspense while they are set on the same concept (QTEs and investigation).

I thought this a long time ago about motion controls (patched when arc released?).....

The demo was pure genius i think that this game stands to be one of the cult classics of our time.

I played it with my mrs watching and she really, really hates games. she said she genuinely felt 'anxious and nervous' during the fight scence and was cheering me on!

NO game i have ever played had her like that. Or me for that matter!

This is right up my street, day 1 purchase.....

well, people, this confirms it, buy Heavy Rain and don't play it, wait for the Arc and Arc patch.

I already have it planned out
I'll get 10 endings with the DualShock.

Wait a few months, then get the other 10 with Arc.

Flawless plan if you ask me ;)

finally played the demo and this is one type of game, that motion would be fine..
btw, I see why this game is getting such great scores...any real gamer has to play this..I cant wait to play through the entire game, the story and graphics just suck you in...such a fresh breath of air from the conventional video games we play

Interestingly, my local HMV had a small number of Heavy Rain pre-order boxes (about 6-8) and all sold out. Now they have restocked with about 20 boxes :)

Even if they patch HEAVY RAIN for the motion controller, I was more than happy with how the regular controller worked and would stick with that.

The only motion that most people will do is throw their controller on the floor because this isn't a real game.

Put this game in your ps3 and make a cup of coffee, at least you'll have something to do.
