Awesome article! Hahaha! :)
the game just does not let you go... ever.
socom2 poke'mon cod4 goldeneye gran turismo2 sonic adventures mario sunshine GTAIII my personal list, hard to do it with just 8 though : /
Bungie on 14/02/2010 01:44:10 Any game on the Xbox360 is hard to put down , on the other side PS3 games are a snore fest :/ Japanese should move on and make toys and leave gaming to us Americans , everything we make are masterpieces.
My own personal list is: Roller Coaster Tycoon (2): It's like LEGOS; once you start building, its hard to stop. Thousands upon thousands of user-made content (new sceneries, rides, etc.) helps it never get stale. Microsoft Flight Simulator: Once you sink in the hours required to learn it, it is very fun trying new routes/planes. User-made extra content (planes, scenery) also adds TONS to the vanilla gameplay. Also, unless you want a bunch of half-finished flights under your belt, you can't put it down until the flight is over (which can range from 10 minutes to 15 hours)! Assassin's Creed 2: Yeah, it may not have much replayability or reason to play once the story is over... But the story... wow. Assassin's Creed 2 is the first time in a while that I've put in 7+ hour sessions in a single player game. Last time was at the launch of GTA IV. And finally, what I'm playing right now; Europa Universalis III: It's like Risk, but hardcore and based within the context of history. I chalk this one up to the incredibly slow pace of the game (which is fine, seeing as it spans over 500+ years). In 2 hours of play I had managed simply to annex one territory and vassalize my puny neighbor, Granada. Like Flight Sim, it is a fairly complex game, so you will have bonded with it somewhat by the time you get the hang of it; and once you know how to play properly, its great fun altering history or taking some random 1 province German city-state and turning it into an empire. Who doesn't love conquering the world? Well that's my list. All either games that I became "addicted to" (Like AC2) for a short amount of time, or that I have put thousands of hours in. There is much more I could list, but these are the highlights, the best of the best, what has made gaming "gaming" for me.
Its an ok article but it's missing one game. DIABLO 2! Like, come on, it is without a doubt the most addictive game ever made. How can anyone omit it in a list?!?
good list. for me. skate 2 professor layton amped: freestyle snowboarding white knight chronicles tetris dragon quest VIII super mario world gta: chinatown wars
lol, why did i get a disagree?
Because there are a bunch of morons in this site that know better than you what games you love and cant put down. Ontopic: Regardless how much I love a game it's hard for me to put more than 30 hours on it, or even less. I have a huge backlog of almost finished games. So far MAG has proven to be one of the most addictive games I came across. Demons Souls was really addictive as well. GoW1&2 and RE4 got me playing till the end.
definately skate 2
nfs3 demo was something i remember playing again n again. tetris, yes. pacman, mario. right now quadrapop is something i keep playing on my mobile. diablo 2 was something i couldnt put until finished it. okami too. i also kept playing PES08/09 demo for the last two years. the card games in windows. KZ2 mp. warhawk. now it's demon's souls.
Right now for me its God of War collection. I find those two games very addictive. Good balance of traversal and puzzles and combat and set pieces. I always want to play just a LITTLE bit more...
Yup, excellent level design.
I know what you mean.. "oh, that next save point can't be THAT far away.."
GOW's (absolute favorite, so elated for GOW III) Pokemon Red and Blue (spent countless hours of my childhood with this game) THPS2 Golden Eye COD4 Uncharted 2 Super Mario Brothers (SNES) Super Smash Borthers (N64) GTA Vice City (some great memories from years with this game!) Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr (N64, best baseball game ever imo) KOTOR's (right behind GOW for all time favorite, purely amazing!) it's always nice to find that game that no matter what anyone rates or says about it, it will always be your favorite game.
Demon's souls and Gta are probably the games I'm most addicted to. That is not to say I do not love to play other game, Splinter cell, mgs, cod, uncharted, just all kinds... But them 2 are my most ever addicting games.

I agree with this article, personally it took me two years to put World of Warcraft down. I also find all Bioware's games quite hard to put down.
the xbox 360 is easy to put down, especially when it breaks and you have to wait 3 weeks to get it fixed
No Patapon 2??
I always find Fallout 3 hard to put down. It always takes me about a half hour (at least) to get back into it and remind myself why I love it but after that I'm hooked. I always wind up telling myself, 'Okay I'll just see what's over this section of the map and then I'll stop. Okay, I'll just make this decision then I'll stop. Okay I'll just find this guy then I'll stop'. Uncharted 2 is also hard to put down because there's never a moment when you feel like you're not about to experience something new and cool. I let a friend who doesn't own a PS3 play it one time and couldn't get him to leave after that.
Super Mario Bros. is up there for me - Finding all the secrets took me forever, but I never got bored. Original Mario Kart was also 100% addictive. The first Half Life - I've played & completed it god knows how many times and it always holds my attention (well, except maybe the Xen levels). I also wore out several Gameboy batteries with Ocarina of Time - As soon as I finished a game, I always started a new one as it was such a joy to play.
Counter Strike Source and Battlefield 2 PC.
and uncharted 2's MP. the co-op arena is really addicting and challenging.
