The PS3 Games Of Summer 2007

PS3 owners weren't as overcome with software as they thought they'd be this past spring, but the summer is a totally different story. With a number of high-profile and potentially excellent videogames headed our way over the next few months, the awaited "must own" PlayStation 3 era may finally be upon us. Highlighted below are most of the season's biggest titles, so be sure to look for them at your local retailer between the dual-21sts of June and September.

This summer,and winter looks to be promising for the PS3, and all three systems really. Ninja Gaiden is a must cop, and so is Heavenly Sword, I am really looking foward to Uncharted though.

Can anyone tell me when that one is going to drop, I can't remember the date, or is it still to be anounced?

Can't wait to play these games, When Ninja Gaiden drops, is when I will actually purchase my firt next gen (this gen) system.

I know I'm late, but they was just nothing for me to play that I really liked to justify this purchase. Come July that will all change.

considering Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, Too Human and more will all be coming out for Xbox 360 as exclusives during the same time period.

The console war will be intense, that's for sure.

I agree that the PS3 won't dominate, but it will definitely hold it's own considering the exclusives it has on the way also.

And I still don't see the PS3 dominating in the face of the Wii and 360's also awesome upcoming lineups. Not unless they got a pricedrop on that thing, and fast.

It has two system sellers and Metroid.

Exclusives (Haze, Bioshock and UT3? are timed) with potential to sell systems:

It'll be a clean sweep for PS3 if its price drops. 360 is really catering to the same crowd yet again, and to the wrong crowd (JPRGs on 360). There's something for everyone on PS3 this

And the two real consoles have GTA IV, Assassin's Creed etc as multiplatform between them.

Wii's as good as dead, just in time for the new Xmas fad.

However since this is Summer, yeah, there's not even a competition since barely any games are being released.

I know of ONE genre that PS3 severely lacks: Western RPGs, of which I am a big fan.

Xbox 360 has some very exclusive high-profile Western RPGs that I simply have to have: Mass Effect and Too Human. In addition, I can look forward to Jade Empire 2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3, which (more likely than not) will be Xbox 360 exclusives.

Currently, PS3 has no high-profile Western RPG exclusive.

The Western RPGs that are on PS3 (e.g., Oblivion and Fallout 3) are also available on Xbox 360. For Western RPG lovers, Xbox 360 is the console-of-choice over PS3.

Can you name any really good exclusive Western RPG on PS3 that Xbox 360 doesn't and won't have?

It comes down to the games I like and want to play, and the games I love the best are Western RPGs. PS3 doesn't have any good exclusive one.

Of course, your taste is different from mine, but I know there are many people out there who are big fans of Western RPGs. For them, PS3 does NOT have "something for everyone."

I think timed exlusive do have some effect on a console. But the real deal is, what games do you prefer? Because you have that console, does it mean that you have to love the games on YOUR system?

I personally doubt that when/if the PS3 has a price drop the Wii will lose its audience; quite the contrary, the Wii will be the hot, cheap Christmas item for not just hardcore gamers but casual gamers too.

Then PS3 does not have exclusive WRPGs. It does have Oblivion, Fallout 3, and more likely than not will have Kotor3 and Jade Empire 2 (I hope the latter never comes to fruition after the abomination of the first). That's if MS doesn't pay and publish them.

I always thought Too Human was an action game, along the lines of DMC, GoW and NG. I'm pretty sure it just has RPG elements.

And both consoles have something for everyone (I think), though usually they're of mediocre quality and multiplatform - i.e. JRPGs and Enchanted Arms. Where is 360's top of the line platformer (LittleBig)? Where is 360's party game (Singstar)? Where is its adventure game (Uncharted)? Where's the stealth action (MGS4)?

And if you're into WRPGs, you should stick to PC. Mass Effect like all bioware games will make its way there, same with Oblivion and Fallout 3. Only the action Too Human won't. Plus you'd get Diablo 3 if you're lucky.

As for 5.3, DS was being ripped apart by the PSP in monthly sales before DS Lite and Nintendogs etc dropped. Wii has staple Nintendo games which cater to no such audience, and has all the makings of a fad. It WILL die, and that'll most likely happen this holiday season when the difference is clear and it can no longer rely on fad status.

Interesting that you would say that. I was a hardcore PC gamer until all the good single-player Western RPG left PC. So I was forced to switch over to Xbox, because that's where all the Western RPG makers have migrated.

PC still has RPGs -- but they are mostly MMO-rpg like World of Warcraft and the Lord of the Rings Online. And I hate those MMO craps with no story.

Just so you guys know: before I bought my first console, which was a Xbox,) I had always detested console gaming. For me, console gaming (including the previous Playstation) had always been substandard compared to PC gaming - in the 1990s and early 2000s. Then, Microsoft started promoting Xbox at the expense of PC gaming, until more and more PC gamers are being forced to migrate to Xbox because so many good single-player games have left the PC.

After I started playing console games on Xbox and 360, I am now more willing to check out other consoles. If it's not for Xbox 360, I would have never even looked at PS3.

I still believe console gaming is substandard compared to PC gaming. But now I'm more willing to look at console gaming -- thanks to Xbox. I migrated from PC to Xbox. Then, after I've become comfortable with Xbox, I also became more willing to accept PS3. That would have never happened without Xbox.

Of course, this year, right when I'm starting to get comfortable with console gaming, PC gaming is starting to make a comeback.

So wait, what are you saying? Catering to the same crowd is not good, but catering to different crowds is just as bad? Make up your mind.

Anyway, LittleBigPlanet is coming out next year, this year we'll only see a demo version. It should still be a blast, though.

As for the Xbox 360 list, let me give you a hand: Eternal Sonata, Banjo-Threeie, Beautiful Katamari, Ace Combat 6, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Elements, Splinter Cell Conviction, Bee Movie Game, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, MotoGP '07, Left 4 Dead, Battlestar Galactica, World in Conflict, Kengo: Legend of the 9, Theseis, Culdcept Saga...

Perhaps also Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, Huxley, Ninja Gaiden 2, Elveon, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Operation: Darkness, Warhound, Mobile Ops: The One Year War, White Gold, Raiden IV... There's more than enough to compete with anything Sony can throw on the table.

And I wouldn't be underestimating the Wii.

- Halo3 is suppose to be the god of all titles on the 360 and its a huge let down - sure itll sell like crazy but the game isnt good enough to make other ppl go out a buy a 360 - thats a fact.

too human - looks like crash - they are trying to copy god of war gameplay with devil may cry and from what ive seen are doing a brutal job in pulling it off...

mass effect is the best game out of the bunch that u sheep are hyping..seen trailers the voice acting seems to be mint and graphics are well done..gameplay doesnt seem all there from what ive seen..but i could say this game will be the best out of the bunch but just like too human...doesnt really make u want 2 go buy a 360

bioshock - honestly looks brutal...reminds me of alone in the dark part 1 - nurse zombies and ugly weapons..story seems abit weird and [email protected] they even stated that they are taking a huge!!! gamble in making this game so it will be coming over to the PS3 for more $$$ in their pockets but i could careless...

xbox360 system alone - doesnt compare to the PS3
doesnt have the power, looks, blue-ray, PSN free and most important - PS3 is reliable unlike 360

games like heavenlysword,drakes,R&C,l air,MGS4 look amazing and will be AAA sellers and we all know no 360 game touches those games...

Listen, the PS3 has a killer line up, but when it comes to multi platform games the 360 wins because it is just cheaper. Now when it comes to the first person titles the PS3 is a clear winner. Now this is just my opinion but the 360's games are really unimaginative and lack variety. It seems that they are trying to fix this by introducing Blue Dragon and other exclusive RPG.

I would get a 360 if it weren't for the fact that the majority of their games are first person shooters. Not all but most. Even Mass Effect( while it has RPG elements) is still a shooter, this is the same with BioShock. I don't own a 360 so I can't say it sucks but I can say that as time goes on you will see a huge difference between the way 360 games and PS3 games look. Of course the PS3 games will get better and better and better looking while the 360 I believe has hit a wall.

Call me a fanboy, I think that lot's of people will be buying a PS3 in the coming year to two years. Say what you want about it but I know for a fact that everyone who bashes it would sing a different song if they actually played it. I did the same thing until I played a friends 360 ( Gears of War is wicked!).I know I can't stop the Sony bashing and really can't explain it either. Honestly try to figure out why anyone would bash a game console. It's weird and really has no explanation. The only thing Sony hasn't delivered on is the games and people are mad because of the price is keeping them from getting one. Finally there will be a new X-Box system within the next 3-4 years max. They will have to release it once the PS3's graphics begin to move too far beyond what the 360 can do.

Wow BLU wow, I'm gonna laugh so hard when the titles you listed are crap? HIT TRIPLE PLATINUM, and come on ratchet and crank or whatever, better than mass effect or bioshock get real. The only exclusive games you guys got going for this you this year are honestly MGS4, lair, Uncharted, and heavenly sword which are going to be beyond kickass, but lets not say any 360 exclusive is going to be less than better than any of yours.

I only own Playstation products.The PSP,PS1,PS2,PS3, and I just bought a 1,700 dollar Sony Vaio( It's amazing!!). I admire Sony's outside of the box thinking and willingness to take risk. This in the past has turned out some amazing yet unconventional video games. Although they might not have been developed by them, most of our favorite video game franchises have started out on Sony, and they have given us lots of amazing first party games as well.

Now with that said i'm no XBOX hater either, my friend has the original and while I do think that it's library of good games is slim. It does have some amazing games on it. Fable which was killer and very underrated, Halo is fun too. But why is it that you guys hate the PS3, a system that you probably don't even own. Of course it doesn't have alot of big titles yet it's early into it's life cycle. The online is ok although it's sub par when compared to XBLA but still there is nothing wrong with it either. How can you deny that any of the first party games coming out for it are going to be good( you know you want to play heavenly sword). Also I think that to keep up with the PS3's graphics the XBOX will release a new system within the next few years. Look at all of the add ons they make you guys by. Don't go saying they give you a choice because they don't. They know you are going to want the best gaming experience possible so you are going to go out and buy all of these add-ons and they know this. That's why the 20gb PS3 didn't last,people want the best possible so the got the 60gb. Look at the graphics of the PS3's first generation games. They match and in many cases are superior to the 360's second generation games, do not overlook this fact. So by the second generation of PS3 games, the difference in quality will be huge.

Oh, and explain to me why people think Halo is so good. Not saying that it's not, but it's definitely not the best FPS.

You completely left out Ace Combat 6, which has recently become the third most wanted game on Xbox after Halo 3 and Mass Effect. (It's rated about the same as Bioshock as "the most wanted upcoming 360 exclusive.")

And how could you leave out Eternal Sonata for 360 (or Trusty Bell in Japan) but then you include NGS (Ninja Gaiden Sigma) for PS3??

Famitsu -- that's Japan's most authoritative and respect game magazine -- actually gave Trusty Bell BETTER ratings than NGS, in the same issue. (Yup, Trusty Bell and NGS came out at the same time.) And to add to the insult, Trusty Bell has been outselling NGS in Japan.

It's interesting that all the PS3 fanboys were bashing Trusty Bell, saying how it would suck and fail BEFORE it came out. Now that Trusty Bell has come out -- and has actually gotten better ratings and sales than Ninja Gaiden Sigma ( = the most hyped PS3 game that's currently available,) PS3 fans just want to pretend that Trusty Bell does not exist.
