CwG: Wii HD Confirmed via The Grinder!?

Coffee with Games says, "Going back to that "rumor" now. In videogamer.com's article, an employee from a large publisher was quoted as saying, "Just heard a rumour that you may be interested in: Nintendo are going to announce a new platform at GDC. Some devs have already started work on it."(emphasis added)

If some developers are already working on Nintendo's next system, perhaps it's High Voltage Software, and The Grinder will be their debut game on the system."

eeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr. no.

CoffeewithChess3205d ago

Why do you think it doesn't confirm it?

ChickeyCantor3205d ago

Because a HD-Nintendo console is out of the question.
The Wii is selling enough a month. Its suicide.

CoffeewithChess3205d ago

The DS was selling well by itself, and Nintendo released the DSi, and now the DSi LL.

I don't think it's out of the question. Nintendo could drop the Wii's price to $129.99 and still be making money(probably even $99.99).

Selling two home consoles is something Sony is still doing with the PS2 and PS3.

Microsoft has two versions of the Xbox 360, with just a $100 price difference between them.

I guess we'll find out if I'm right in a few months.

@Coffee,
The DS was lacking a download system.
It hardly changed, it had a slightly bigger physical resolution, and addes some cameras.

This would not make a Wii " HD ".

no. Not likely... not impossible, but the chanses are very slim. However according to ign, the new trailer was on the wii >_> but who knows IGN isnt exactly the most accurate information source.
I think nintendo announcing a new home console during GCD is a bad idea, especially since the Wii is a casual audience. i dont think families like knowing there's a new wii in just a year...

I just wonder why HVS has news to announce, about the increase in graphics. If it was simply because it was showing on the other consoles, they could have said that. If it was a new engine on the Wii, they could have said that.

Instead, they said, "We have some new announcements coming soon that leverage these improvements such as better lighting options."

What type of a new announcement, would allow for better bump mapping and better lighting, other than either a new engine, or a new Wii HD console?

AEtherbane3205d ago

But on closer inspection.... i am intrigued, it does seem quite strange...

ChickeyCantor3205d ago

@Coffee,
Since the development of The Conduit, the Engine has reached new milestones. Meaning its loads more optimized, more features etc.

And their new teaser shows.

AEtherbane3205d ago

Is the new teaser wii footage? O.o

http://wii.ign.com/dor/obje...

It says Wii xD.

It could be the PC version though...But the title says so.

i dont think so they would them self in the foot

CoffeewithChess3204d ago

From the interview:
IGN: I'm seeing a lot of bump-mapping and awesome projected shadows in the trailer. Has the engine improved?

Kerry: Quantum 3 has improved a lot since The Conduit's release. We have some new announcements coming soon that leverage these improvements such as better lighting options.

What do "new announcements" mean? Was it simply the game running on the Xbox 360 and PS3? I don't think so, it sounds like it's across the board for the graphical changes.

Matt specifically asks about the lighting and bump-mapping.
I wonder if he knows about it, and was trying to give a hint by asking that question?

readiandnot3205d ago

I think this is great circumstantial evidence. I would lean heavily for another Nintendo console in 2011 bc of this.

AEtherbane3204d ago

If evidence is circumstantial, then it has no validity.... >_>
