de Blob 2 Announced

During THQ's fiscal third quarter conference call this afternoon, president and CEO Brian Farrell announced both de Blob and Saints Row will see new titles in the coming years.
"Our de Blob franchise will be back again in fiscal 2011," stated Farrell. "We successfully launched this highly-rated franchise in fiscal 2009 to broad, critical acclaim." (de Blob, Wii)

I had so much fun with the original, will buy the sequel for sure. I wonder what features will be added? More and better boss battles would be nice, as would mapping jumping to a button press, or tightening the responsiveness of the jump motion. Bigger and more diverse worlds would be cool. So much potential. I am very eager to see what the design team does with this.

I agree with the idea of more boss battles. There was only one in de Blob, but it was very fun, refreshing, hectic, and all-round awesome!

It was fun, but it felt a little incomplete and not as climatic as it could have been. Would love to see each world have a boss in the sequel.

I am so glad to hear this. xD I loved the story of de Blob, and the characters and gameplay too. Only problem I have is the pretty common complaint that the levels took too much time.

Too bad
The sequel will go vastly underplayed, like the first one.

De blob sold around 700-800k. It was originally designed by game design students in a class at a european university. By all accounts it is a tremendous success for this sort of title. That's why they have a sequel.

Great game that well deserves a sequel. These sorts of titles are why I love my wii.

Awesome, thanks to THQ for supporting this fledgling franchise and thanks to Ronimo for originally creating it, but where's Swords and Soldiers 2?:P

Great news anyhow.

It reminds me I still haven't played de Blob. I bought several games with my Wii (among Muramasa, Resident Evil 4, Okami, No More Heroes, MadWorld, Disaster Day of Crisis and some Mario games) but totally forgot about de Blob.

I'll certainly pick it up before de Blob 2 releases.
