Happy 10th Anniversary Sims

On Jan. 31 2000 Electronic Arts open the floodgates to another one of Will Wright's off-kilter, but strangely addictive games.

Over the next ten years the Sims franchise sold more than 100 million copies and became the best selling PC franchise of all time.

The story is too old to be commented.

The Sims was one of the first games I actually owned (I had a mountain of pirated PS1 games). I was like 9 or 10 when it came out, and oh how much fun I had burning the neighbourhood families alive in thie hot tubs :)

Casual or not, you can't deny the impact that the series has had on gaming. Plus the original Sims (or even better, The Sims 1 and it's 7 expansions as a whole) is really one of the most timeless games out there. I still regularly pop in The Sims: Complete Collection when I'm feeling a bit bored.

Too bad the series is really starting to slow down. I hope it is allowed to eventually die a noble death and doesn't become the next Need for Speed. :(
