Sony Planning a PSPgo Relaunch? - Gamervision.com

Gamervision says, "It's safe to say that the PSPgo hasn't had the reception that was expected of it. Sales haven't been crazy, and most seem to have completely ignored the system's launch entirely. With this kind of negativity surrounding the PSPgo, it's no wonder that Sony wants to do something about it. According to someone close to Sony, they are. Sources have confirmed with Gamervision that a PSPgo "relaunch" is imminent, complete with a marketing blitz in hopes to rekindle some sort of excitement over the handheld. they need to re-market, re-price, and re-focus attention on this fine little gadget and maybe they'll see an uptick in sales of the Go. The only reason I didn't buy one, but went with a 3000 instead was because of the price and the number of umd's I had on my old 1000.

1) Reduce the PSPGo price by at least $50.
2) Require every new release UMD game to release on the PSN the same day and cost $5-$10 cheaper seeing how you can't trade it in, no hard copy etc.

And there's your PSPGo sales increase.

In Canada, at least. I picked up Valhalla Knights and Silent Hill: SM for $10 less than if I had gone retail.

But they do need to release more content. I buy more games than I'm able to finish and I still have about 1/2 the storage left on my device's memory.

One or two releases of new or legacy titles a week doesn't cut it. Especially when you see 7-8 released on the Japanese PSN in the same time-frame.

And yeah, I agree with many of the sentiments in this thread, the Go is a fantastic device, but it needs a price adjustment.

If they reduce the price by at minimum 50$ and allow you to download UMDs you own, I'd consider buying it. Going all digital was a mistake for an already established platform, this would have worked better if it were the PSP2.

Also, a second thumbstick would be nice.. I'd consider getting one for that feature alone.

IMO, spending over $200 is a tremendous psychological barrier for a handheld, especially one thats a redesign of a 5 year old system. not saying nobody can afford this, but for that much money I could get a couple new tires for my truck, or some class textbooks. dropping the price by 50 would be a start, and until then the pspgo will sit en masse in stores.

They NEED:

A price drop (no less than $50)

A Bundle along with the price drop ($20 PSN card or a Game voucher with instruction on how to use the voucher for inexperienced PSN users)

Allow PSP owners to transfer their UMD's over to the PSP go. It may already be too late for some of them, but there are those who want to upgrade still.

What would help gain ground on the DS (since they can't win)

They need cheaper PSN prices for PSP games and PS Classics. PSP games should only be $20 on PSN (decreasing by increments of $5 for older games), and classics should be $5 or $10 nothing else. This would give the software sales for PSP games a huge boost, as well as PSN sales data, and this alone will garner more hardware sales for all models.

There's a bunch of other stuff, but I'm too lazy to write it.

I think people were expecting more than Sony was from the Go's sales. It's an anti-piracy device, simple as that. Games on PSN should also be cheaper than their UMD counterpart. Until that and a price drop happen, you should expect to see the sales you do.

...it is cheaper. I for one have bought a bunch of games for my PSP Go for a cheaper price than if I would have gone to a retail store. I may actually have saved up to 20 dollars or more when I get the newer games (39.99 dollars). O_o

better multiplats aren't universal in there number or even very noticeable and you pay for live so it should be better, not by much though, imagine if live was worse or even the same then its free counterpart?

I'm just dumbfounded when i check the psp games on the store. Most of the old games u can get for like 5-10 bucks at brick n mortar stores, but the psn wants usually triple the price. Like, i seen Mortal Kombat: Unchained umd version 9.99, and the download version for 19.99, this is an example only, so no links.

There's nothing wrong with the hardware, it's a sweet piece of tech. No sort of relaunch is going to help the major pitfall of an incomplete library of games. Unless every single game, past, present and future, is mandated to be on PSN, no one is going to trust the device.

no wonder,there arnt many psp games on psn and the ones that are on there are double the price of wot you can buy on umd. wheres all these games sony promised. sure,they have cheap azz mini games that arnt even worth the few dollars there priced at. if they just launched the whole back catalog and priced them according to there release date so people can afford them and not feel ript off when they see the umd version half price lolz

I'm sorry. I like the PSP, I love Playstation, I have always been behind PS3, even in the dark ages.

But this is the worst and at that pointless, insulting product that Sony has made since the Minidisc player.

Let it die or find a way to fulfill that promise of getting owned UMD titles to work as a digital back up.

I'm happy with my psp go but they really need to lower the price. I'm bill free and have a large disposable income but I realize that most people are not in my situation, $250 is way too much for a handheld considering you can buy a wii for $200, an arcade 360 for $200 or a ps3 for $300. $250 is an absolutely INSANE price for a handheld.
