"A claim I always like to make is that the quality of games are fairly closely tied to their commercial performance. However, there are unfortunately a number of truly terrible games that are greeted with some success, and some absolute gems that fail to generate enough sales. Tragically, the fates of these games is largely dictated by marketing, for example the poor performance of the excellent Little King's Story was attributed to bad marketing by its tear-filled producer Yoshiro Kimura. On the flipside of this we have quality marketing pushing sub-par games into decent sales figures, like many games in the PS1/PS2's library that sold well but haven't aged well."
