Metroid: Other M Official Site Opens

It's now due for release this Summer, so it's probably a good thing that Nintendo has gotten around to opening an official site for Metroid: Other M.

The official site opens up with a female voice delivering a mysterious message: "That Dream -- it was like watching a playback of a tragedy that actually occurred."

thank you. I really like the music. Honestly, I really didn't like Metroid Prime, so I never had the motivation to finish it. game developers tend to fail what people (not just gamers) want, so they always end up creating something that merely rekindles their old memories, but isn't that a good thing? Not necessarily. If they can get us to play by understanding our "MOOD," then they seriously know what we want. Fun is for the kids, but MOOD is for the grown ups who grew up around games. I've noticed that they are releasing a few games on the wii with added sentiments or emotions, which I kinda like because it really soothes my mood. IMO, Mood is what brings people back to the world of gaming.

you lost me at mood...

anyways... Metroid Prime was an amazing game, probably my fav game on gamecube

ChickeyCantor5198d ago (Edited 5198d ago )

I like the music but it got nothing "Metroid" like.
Your opinion sounds so contradicting.

I mean you say developers can't give what the fans want.
Yet you " I really like the music" which doesn't sounds to be anything but a metroid theme.

"t. Fun is for the kids, but MOOD is for the grown ups "

Ever tried making a game for kids, or the concept or art at all?
You don't know what "mood" is xD. Seriously that was just rubbish.

EvilTwin5198d ago

I thought that "MOOD" was what the Prime games did best. There's nothing like landing on Tallon IV for the first time and visiting the Chozo ruins. There's a definite mood set, IMO.

But hey, that's just me.

As for Other M...more! C'mon, Nintendo. If this game is gonna launch this summer (which seems reasonable to me, considering how long it's been in development), lets see some more gameplay clips. Please?

Metroid Prime is a radical departure from the 2d style of the original metroid and lots of angry fans argued that moving it to a 3d FPS would kill the game. It does much more than rekindle their old memories.

"Fun is for the kids, but MOOD is for the grown ups who grew up around games."

You can't separate fun and mood. Bored is a mood which is the absence of fun.

I dont know which game will get goty 2010. Zelda wii or metroid other M or super mario galaxy 2...

ZoidsRaven5198d ago

That's a tough question. People barely know ANYTHING about the next zelda title. So from a perspective, it would seem like metroid or mario......... For time being.

---------------
You'd think Nintendo is cult or something, the way they keep information about their titles hidden. Come on, not one person is gunna leak (real) information about the next zelda title?

wow i made that my background :D

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds465d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Starman69465d ago

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees3465d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese465d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits464d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

shinoff2183465d ago

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

Well it almost killed Metroid so…

PhillyDillyDee710d ago

Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.

Terry_B710d ago

Sometimes, I doubt that Reggie was that great for Nintendo after all.

2D Metroid Retrospective: Bring on the Remakes

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."

Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.

INMATEofARKHAM929d ago

I just want them all in the Switch.
