MIG | Review: Massive Action Game

MyInsideGamer writes:

"Why is business so intense? Why do companies in industries such as the videogame industry have to flaunt their product and plaster all the positives across their promotional interface to make more sales? This is what Sony and Zipper have done with their console MMO. They've taken the absolute best situation, squeezed out all of the positives from this situation and left a mashed up piece of shrivelled matter behind which acts as the negatives. Never has a piece of matter such as this been so important.

Remember those early previews, how 256 players would battle it out, and they'd take orders from the team leaders, making strategic plans to outperform the other team? Having a rock solid game plan to ruffle the opposing players? How organised matches would be one of the best experiences known to gaming? Well if you manage to get a game like that, count yourself lucky."

lmao.

MAG =/= MMO.And that's where I stopped reading.

I expect many reviewers to be negative towards MAG..Won't be surprised, as most of them like their casual shooters more.

vflhp3159d ago

Well technically by comparison it is an MMO, because the multiplayer online is massive, so it's an MMO. Simples :)

vflhp3159d ago

MMO games don't have to be restrained to the RPG genre. Sure, I play a lot of Warcraft but I'm open minded and this is technically an MMO.

gears223159d ago

My definition of an MMO includes a persistent online world.
Even Zipper said that it's not an MMO.

vflhp3159d ago

Then would an MMO not be a POW instead? It says it all in the title.

ryuzu3158d ago

MMO = non-realtime combat and interaction
MAG = Realtime combat and interaction

Therfore MAG != MMO

You see?

r.

vflhp3158d ago

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online. Suggesting otherwise is idiotic. Sorry, but you sir, are a dumbass.

"I expect many reviewers to be negative towards MAG..Won't be surprised, as most of them like their casual shooters more."

Oh please. The excuses keep piling up. Now all of a sudden theres a conspiracy towards M.A.G and now even if IGN or GS give it in the 7s range you've created an excuse for it lol.

If you people were ACTUALLY interested in M.A.G, why would you be bothered about what some unpopular critc says about it? If ur so passionate about M.A.G...GO-BUY-IT and stop downplaying reviews.

Killjoy30003158d ago

At least then I won't have to look at your names to identify who's arguing with who.

SilentNegotiator3158d ago

"Why do companies in industries such as the videogame industry have to flaunt their product..." (The last I checked, it was called "business")
"MMO"
Didn't bother reading beyond that. Unprofessional, confused review spotted.

.
EDIT: LOL, It's always hilarious when the obvious author of the articles posts his stuff on N4G and then argues with the commentators.

MMO means Massively Multiplayer Online, correct? Isn't that what MAG is? In that sense he used the term correctly.

I can't believe all the excuses people are putting out there for a game that is getting GOOD solid reviews.

First it was too early.

Then a review gave it a 9/10 and suddenly nobody cared about how early the review was. This was mere FEW hours after people complained about the review being "too early". May I remind you that MANY MP games are not played all the way through.

Now it seems that the sites don't know how to play the game.

And now they have a bias and are COD fans? Give me a break.

It's evident that some people were expecting AAA, and since they set themselves up for that hype they can't take the fact that it's getting A-AA scores even though that's a GOOD SCORE.

It's a good score, the game has it's flaws yet people keep fighting over numbers. Numerable sources are giving it A-AA ratings, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad game nor does it mean that some site has it in for the game.

With that said, I do think that MAG requires much more time than normal games, but I think it's fair for reviews to get an accurate description of the overall game pretty early on. I am still very lenient towards MAG and am going to wait for more reviews.

The funny part is, is that almost every review gets better as time progresses.
First came the 6.8, and they hadn't played the final product.
Then 7.0, they had a couple of hours with from an European preview event.
Then the 8.0's.
And then, almost 48 hours later, the 9.0 who're speaking about. They have the most game time than any of the other reviews.

It's his opinion but what a way to present it.
He only played for 9-10 hours.
I'm sorry but most of us don't know the best way to tackle an objective.
Some of us don't know how to properly communicate either.
But some of us are leading the way & calling the shots.

I found that if you focus on your own squad... Say delta squad.
& you're tasked with defending a transport. Call for back up! Press right on the directional pad & then request snipers to only take out Only rocket launcher enemies.

Of course that's hard to do with strangers but it works. Know why?
We all want to be able to call out.
Why is it that with xboxlive reviewers say you & your friends can join up.
But with psn the reviewers say strangers who don't listen to you.
It's like if you're on psn you have no friends?

Clan up or assist the team.
You can just look for kills too but don't be upset if you are getting shot by everyone & no one helps you.
I swear , the author is talking about negatives but all his negatives are what ifs.
I can't respect that kind of worried opinion.

I'm about 9 hours in & I still don't have a grip on the map.
I'm wondering why people are feeling the need to worry about 256 players being clueless in game when there are specific instructions to DO your objective. How clueless do you have to be when the announcer, your squad leader & your HUD says go that way! The only way a review can worry about this is if they turned of the mic, mute the volume & turn brightness down to zero on thier tvs.

That's not to say I don't have some minor gripes with the game but mine are legitamite & can be altered because I've only played 9 hours.

Lol, my friend you just pointed out a bias; so in other words anything not Microsoft is seen as negative. I have played on both platforms, and playing with strangers is actually harder on XBOX Live at times - for me - for the fact there are so much racists.

As for the rest of the comment, I agree. The reviews are coming in too fast, they (journalists) care about the quantity of reviews on their site, not the quality.

Sony should pull reviews

vflhp3158d ago

Wow, that would completely ruin marketing. I bet you're one of the people complaining to Sony about why there hasn't been any MAG reviews a week ago! Sure, complain for reviews, but you can't ask for a good score regardless of the reviewers opinion - it completely defeats the purpose!

vflhp3158d ago

I'm quite surprised there hasn't been more comments in the open zone.

MysticStrummer3158d ago

This guy makes it sound like 256 players are trying to coordinate simultaneously. Makes me wonder if he actually did play for 9 hours as he claims. Each squad has one objective, attack or defend a point on the map. If they attack and take a point, they have to hold it until other squads do the same at their objectives. If multiple points are held simultaneously by the attackers, then more objectives become available. It's not nearly as complex as he makes it sound. His main complaint about the game has nothing to do with the game anyway. He doesn't like the jerky humans who play. It's a valid complaint, except it applies to EVERY online game. Anyway, I'm having an awesome time with MAG. Finally... an online console shooter that makes you feel like you are in a huge battle instead of a minor skirmish. Peace and good gaming to all.

gears223158d ago

Let's assume that it's an MMO( just like the reviewer claims)..Is 9 hours enough to judge an MMO?

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
