CVG: Microsoft says Remedy has been 'polishing' game for months.
are played on the TV.
Very perceptive you are. As for the comment by the PR turd... No, Alan Wake will imply be a game that looks good. Nothing less, nothing more.
Uncharted 2 says hi Alan. BTW, I seen the demo of Alan Wake @ E3 and man o man was I not impressed. I understand that games can make alot of changes from then and now, but the core gameplay really did nothing spectacular. Actually, the game looked boring. There really isn't even any shooting mechanic, which is fine, but considering all of the enemies that come after you and using light as my weapon? Really? I can see why Alan has a hard time waking up. @Bubbles_Kitty_Cat When are you fanboys gonna realize that its not about what system a game is on? The fact that people pass up on great games simply because its not on your prefered system is cynical. The 360, and ps3 are just machines. Its all about the software. When I talk about a game as though its a turd, its because its a turd, not because its on system A or B. I hated Resistance 2, but loved Ratchet and Clank. Does that even seem possible to you guys? Alan Wake looks boring, as boring as Haze, as boring as LBP. Is it impossible to simply see a game for what its really worth, or is it always gonna be about what system I prefer games on?
If Alan Wake scores higher than Heavy Rain the Sony fans are going to have a total nervous breakdown. lol MAG getting destroyed by Mass Effect 2 already has them on edge (just look at their comments in any pro-Mass Effect article) so I can only imagine how bad it will get if Heavy Rain fails. 2010 looks like Microsoft's year in a big way (Natal hype will be crazy come Christmas time) so it's probably better to just write this year off and start over again next year, Sony fans.
bold claims indeed
Heavy Rain may face many of the same criticisms Indigo Prophecy did; that it's little more than a short adventure that relies too heavily on the same, bad mini-game. That said, review scores shouldn't determine a game's success or how much enjoyment someone gets out of it. MAG is a first entry in what is a bold step in console multiplayer gaming and I don't think anyone had expectations it would be more than reviews have proven it to be; solid.
So Bubbles_Kitty_Whatever You think Sony should start over 2010 because MS has ME2, Alan Wake, and Natal? Those three things are just that damn good? Ahaha You need some new glasses and you need to get the cat off your head. The only thing Alan Wake will "blur" is it's graphics because the 360 has to use those kinds of "tricks" to make the games look half way decent on it.
So.... now Alan Wake is trying to put itself in the same category as Heavy Rain? I'm confused as to how or why they would make the comment knowing what Heavy Rain is. Edit: What's with the Mass Effect 2 vs MAG comparisons? A solid RPG returns with a sequel that's improved over the first versus a niche market multiplayer only FPS? Is this another just another way of certain annoying fanboys taking a non-console exclusive title made by a third-party and trying to make it a flagpoint for quality gaming on their console of choice? I really don't understand some of you here at N4G.
i think heavy rain fits that statement as well knowing it is like interactive T.V. with awesome graphics. ----------------------------- ------------------------------ - ------------------------------ ----------------------------an d MAG loseing to Mass Effect2 in reviews- MS: 1 SONY: 0 *cries* *goes in hiding in his closet/sony shrine* /sarcasm i wish i had a 360 to play alan awake, oh wait no i dont, i dont even have time to play my ps3/ is now a $600 CD player.
What color is the sky in your world? Just asking because I live on planet earth where a game like MAG is not competing in the same category as a game like Mass Effect 2. So on your planet do you see apples being compared to oranges? Or do you even have fresh fruit where you come from?
crackdown 2, Halo: reach N3, Toy soldiers and Fable 3 on you PC. EDIT: To all the trolls above: If you guys don't care about the 360 or Alan Wake, what the f*ck are you doing here?Is it that you don't have anything to play?or no money to buy the games you want @Blast Master below:"I see what your saying, and I totally agree with you. Thing is though at least the ps3 fanboys have reason to be the way that they are. Please understand that Im not saying the 360 is crap. Im just saying that generally the 360 doesn't have anything thats worth even talking about until ME2 came out." If the 360 is not worth talking about, why are you always in 360 threads talking about the 360 and its game?Your such a bloody hypocrite.
It's always laughable when fanboys says they can play this or that game on the PC when it clear that they don't. If that were the case, PC gaming would be a more lucrative and not subjected to the doom and gloom prognostications plaguing the platform. Oh and from all indications, Alan Wake wont be coming to PC day and date with the XBox 360 release.
"When are you fanboys gonna realize that its not about what system a game is on?" See what you're missing out in that comments is that particular fanboys (for example guido above you), constantly bash anything on 360, and throw hissy fits when a 8/10 review comes in for a ps3 game, then it becomes "about that console". So yeah to fanboys it is about what console the game is on. N4G has few console neutral members that when they post negative stuff about a specific console's game, I can respect their opinion. But when the vitriol is always towards one specific console, then your comment fails.
Omnit atlas: good luck playing crackdown 2, Halo: reach N3, Toy soldiers and Fable 3 on you PC. hahahahaha! You realize every game you just listed above are total crap? LOL! I think I understand the hate towards the ps3. Its that 90% of everyone cant afford 2 consoles, and are mad that they made the wrong decision and try to make themselves feel better by putting down games that are exclusive to that other system. LOL! @ creeping judas I see what your saying, and I totally agree with you. Thing is though at least the ps3 fanboys have reason to be the way that they are. Please understand that Im not saying the 360 is crap. Im just saying that generally the 360 doesn't have anything thats worth even talking about until ME2 came out.
"or no money to buy the games you want" <--- that one fits me pretty well hah hah. @blastmaster- oh i didn't know thoes games are out already, i'll take your word for it though. thoes games =crap, ok, got it, won't buy.
Green - "Omnit atlas: good luck playing crackdown 2, Halo: reach N3, Toy soldiers and Fable 3" Toy Soldiers?
you haven't heared about the great xbox360 exclusive game Toy Soldiers??? are u living under a rock?... sorry, i'm just messing with ya :)) there is always something to laugh, when xbox fanboys want to count their "big" exclusives and they desperately throw some C games in, that nobody knows :D and btw. the Toy Soldiers movie is a damn classic ;)
For survival horror in 2010, I will probably enjoy Rainy Woods more than Alan Wake, on account of the weird Japanese $hit going on in the former. That does not mean that Rainy Woods is a better - technically or otherwise - game; on many levels it's significantly worse. But I will enjoy it MORE. Let's all just have a little respect for each other's preferences. And try not to pay attention to the PR mouthpieces hyping every game as being the best thing since Jesus. It would be nice if people - gamers, PR blowhards, "journalists" (really just gamers themselves) - would stop shouting at each other for not having the same opinions (that will never happen, but hey, would be "nice"). Discussions are fun. Yelling matches not so much.
There here because they're frustrated that nobody cares about anything PS3 related! From the nothing new GOW3 to the boring movie HR who gives a flying Frack! Why not just sit here and desperately lie to themselves about a game that single handedly destroys every console exclusive shown this generation.
Many of the comments above belong in the open zone. where are the mods? What does Alan Wake have to do with Heavy Rain or the PS3? Alan Wake and Heavy Rain both look fun to me. The more time they polish this game the better it will be, it already looks like it's ready to play. To many good looking games coming this year and not enough time and money.
Damn you fanboys make me laugh, first it's "MGS4 is just a movie," then it's "Heavy Rain is just a movie." Now the devs just confirmed that Alan Wake is trying to be like a movie and everythings OK? Hypocrisy at its finest. How about enjoying games as they are and not being a fanboy all the time? Oh wait, that makes too much sense, fanboys have no sense.
This hasnt been done before MGS4, Uncharted, Uncharted 2
Alan Wake is supposed to have TV style episode based gameplay and it has had this since the day it was announced and before anyone knew about Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain is billed as an interactive game. You will do some walking around with the character but most of it is selecting actions and then watch them play out, like a movie. Neither are doing the same thing game play wise but both are using the movie/tv analogy to explain their mechanics..
Man, the fanboys are like rival gangs or something... Fanboys... come out and playyyyyyyayyyyyy! LOL
Jesus Christ, you sad little bastards. Just stop with the console war crap. I know deep down you believe people may actually start liking you if it can be scientifically proven that you own the superior console but in fact most people will continue to think you're the sad and pathetic little creature you really are. Oh and if your comment contains anything like, 'Look at them cry now that we have the best games!' you don't get to call other people fanboys. Look, the PS3 is going to release an awesome game at a time when the 360 isn't releasing anything great. The 360 is gonna release an awesome game at a time when the PS3 isn't releasing anything great. That's how it goes. It would be like some strange twilight zone episode if both consoles released games of the exact same quality on the exact same day every single time a game was released.
"If Alan Wake scores higher than Heavy Rain the Sony fans are going to have a total nervous breakdown. lol MAG getting destroyed by Mass Effect 2 already has them on edge (just look at their comments in any pro-Mass Effect article) so I can only imagine how bad it will get if Heavy Rain fails." Listen child, there are gamers out there (like myself) that don't buy games based on what other people think of it (like metacritic) or how much they sell (who cares?). If I get to enjoy Heavy Rain, that's all I care about. Not how much you think Alan Wake is better because of teh sales or because of reviews written by people paid to review them. Then, there are the sheep. :)
kittyman Am I missing something? Is Mag and Mass Effect 2 having a cage match on Spike channel I didn't know about or something? How can it be possible since I was playing ME 2 last after i bought it with Mag. I even carried them home in the same bag without a fight breaking out. Seriously you fantards need to stop with the onesided hate. If you reckon yourselves real gamers you would just buy all consoles and get all great games. To miss out on great games because are insecure about your console is downright stupid. BTW ME2 rocks and Mag rocks too. There are plenty of people playing and it's instant 128 and up rooms. Much improved over the betas.
Sounds good. LOL at the ever increasing trolling form the PS3 fanboys. And why is this in the PC section when the game was canceled for PC? Just because the article systematically listed PC doesn't mean it's true. That platform listing is not a quote lol.
"Seriously you fantards need to stop with the onesided hate." If only it were that easy to do for most of the people here. I honestly feel the need to only come here to view things and never scroll down to comments. Great quote by the way!
Just like how you troll PS3 articles with your accounts? HYPOCRITE. Don't talk about trolling when you 360 trolls are guilty of the same exact thing. You get a taste of your own medicine.
Let me just quote you for a second there buddy. "Listen child, there are gamers out there (like myself) that don't buy games based on what other people think of it (like metacritic) or how much they sell (who cares?). If I get to enjoy Heavy Rain, that's all I care about. Not how much you think Alan Wake is better because of teh sales or because of reviews written by people paid to review them. Then, there are the sheep. :)" Here's your response to a article about the positive reviews Mass Effect 2 received. "That 7 out of 10 from gamekult hasn't been included (yet ;) )" "lol this game can't be more overrated. At least it's better than Halo and gears though." "The press inflated the scores to make thr 360 look better after Uncharted 2. Sadly it is getting ported to ps3 anyway so the joy won't last" O thought you didn't care about reviews yet you seem to keep bringing them up when it suits you. You remind me of a fat guy sitting on a couch shouting at footballers telling them how to play...
The lighting and visuals look really nice. The running from the cops scene looked cool. then the gay ass flashlight, ghost hunter deally just made me go limp. what a waste of a pretty game.
Hardly, Sony fans are used to reviewers giving easy 10/10's to 360 games while groundbreaking PS3 games (not HR per se) get unfairly harsh reviews.... Gift bags anyone?
alan wake looks interesting but alone in the dark did alot of it a while ago, now passing it off as innovation is just plain sad come on anyone can see that!
so Sony shoots to blur the line between games and movies and MS shoots for television. what was it Kojima said about the PS3 being a theater and the 360 being a DVD? I swear that man is a prophet.
Wow, 360 "fans" talking about ps3 fanboys more than they talk about the game. Count the ps3 fanboy comments, then count the 360 "fan" comments about fanboys, both are eating up too much real estate
Whatever! Why is every microsoft related game the one that is going to blow everything away. Seriously every single game is the one that is going to take down the world as we know it. I have yet to see any 360 game come close to that. Name one that has revolutionized anything. Microsoft tries to pull the Goldeneye effect but it never works.
-By that standard I have never seen a PS3 game do it either. Back on topic, Alan Wake looks incredible to me and is by far one of my most anticipated games. You can tell that it is going to have a ton of narrative depth and I love what I have seen of the gameplay. It also doesn't hurt that it is one of the best looking games around.-
What's going on? Why is everyone trying to say that their games aren't games?
theres going to be a blurred line between my couch and tv? if so will i be able to wash it out? or is it going to stain :O
Uh, precisely because of the reasons I cite (the inflation of scores), I don't care about review scores for buying games. I simply cite the irony You remind me of the dumb guys that take words at face value instead of reading between the lines. "That 7 out of 10 from gamekult hasn't been included (yet ;) )" Obviously I was making Xbox fanboys angry with this line. "lol this game can't be more overrated. At least it's better than Halo and gears though." And? Your point is? I never said I would buy the game because of the reviews. "The press inflated the scores to make thr 360 look better after Uncharted 2. Sadly it is getting ported to ps3 anyway so the joy won't last" And? Again, I am still not buying games because of scores. If I was, you'd see sports games and music games in my library. I just point the fact that a lot of the press do their job poorly and that's why I don't care about reviews. The fact that Uncharted 2 was such an undeniably great game that pushed reviewers out of their seats has pretty much influenced newer reviews to give the 360 a free pass. Next.
isn't MAG just an online game with "256!" players combat? while Mass effect is the 2nd highest rated on the 360 ever since.... 07?
...just release the game already.
Lost all interest when this was canned for PC. Remedy game on console.. ugh.
"The storyline will run as a driving factor throughout the game, creating an atmosphere that captivates the player in a way that many straight-out horror games do not" The game looks so awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on it. This and SC:C are my top two "exclusives" for the first half of the year. Good gaming times indeed! @ damnightmare Okay. Top 3 then! Add Crackdown 2! ;) Not sure how i'll find the time to play all these games but i'll manage somehow.
Why would you only have a top 2? lol This and Heavy Rain are deff at the top of my list though =D
Ohhh so, what happened to "enjoy your movies droidss" and "you only play movies" so what, you guys play tv shows now LOL! You 360fans are pathetically disgusting and I look forward to the day MS dumps your arses yet again.
More PS3tards in a 360 article than 360 fans. Only on N4G.
-Some people are being stupid. Alan Wake is like a tv show in the way it tells its story, not in its gameplay. We have already seen Alan Wake's gameplay and it is realtime action based gameplay.-
I wonder if we'll have to "interactively" take a shower and dry our hair in Alan Wake?
Hmm.. I'm sure there was a game being bashed for doing that.
"Alan Wake will blur the lines between video gaming and television" they mean in terms of storytelling or graphics... or both?
If your talking about Heavy Rain, the main complaint/worry with the game is that it relies heavily on QTE. Personally, I think both these games are going to be awesome and will push the experience of connecting the gamer to the game.
That's because the game your talking about is a PS3 exclusive so it's not allowed. When it's a 360 exclusive it's totally fine. /sar
@Alpha Male- Heavy Rain is more for getting "non-gamers" into gaming. Even David Cage said it wasn't a game. Its a interactive movie to get the casuals into the gaming scene by giving them a control scheme they can easily master. Alan Wake IMO, caters much MUCH more to the hardcore gamer. I'M a hardcore gamer so despite being a PS3 only owner, I'd choose Alan Wake..if I had the choice that is. @PS3 fanboys- Whats with ur mindless disagrees? If u guys aren't interested in this game then you shouldn't be here. All I know is that if I ever buy an Arcade, it'll be for this game! @pixel- psn-deadreckoning666, THINK-BE-FORE-U-SPEAK. Claims without any backup is very popular on N4G lol. I have my PS3 on right now, so ill be waiting :)
Alan Wake definitely caters more to a wider audience of gamers but IMO gamers shouldn't restrict themselves to certain genres, gameplay elements or even platforms. That's because gamers like to think of gaming as a hobby rather than just a way to pass time. As someone who takes gaming as a hobby I know I'm not going to like every game out there or even every genre but I like to try games I wouldn't normally play or genres I have never played before. I think Alan Wake will be an amazing game and so will Heavy Rain considering the track records of both developers and will do what I can to at least try both before commenting negatively about them.
Thank you. That is an awesome definiton of the word gamer. I am more interested in Heavy Rain, seeing how I only own a PS3, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't try Alan Wake,
Can you show where in his comments he has ever trolled a PS3 article?
Bubbles, takes some balls to say something like that about a PS3 game, even though you said nothing negative. That's N4G for you.
Guess reading isn't your strong suite: Stealth-trolling: giving insults in the form of vague compliments. examples are in his history, so I'll give one or two (since only one is needed to prove my point) then if you want more, look for yourself. Patch for Bayonetta PS3 comment: "YES WOOOOO!!! U guys think they can fix the washed out textures as well?" Not even one page into the comments.
Oh there's a WHOOOOLLLLEEEE lot more where that came from. A whole lot from that stealth troll. You're not the only one that noticed it from Deadreckoning. On topic, I think the game is going to be really good. Story is important and I think it's going to have a good story. EDIT: "and I along with many other ps3 gamers saw that intro to heavy rain a couple of days ago.... and were disappointed. So I can understand when a hardcore gamer would much rather choose Alan Wake over Heavy Rain." HA, I think you would be dissapointed regardless man. EDIT: @Pixelsword: You know for a minute there, I thought I was the only one that noticed it. lol But MX5871(I forgtet his tag name) confronted him on it too. :) Now, I just laugh.
"YES WOOOOO!!! U guys think they can fix the washed out textures as well?" why should that be considered stealth trolling??? installing Bayonette into the HDD doesn't fix other issues except load times.... and given that game is being praised as the best hack-slash this gen, it should really piss off all ps3 to get such an inferior port... FACT and I along with many other ps3 gamers saw that intro to heavy rain a couple of days ago.... and were disappointed. So I can understand when a hardcore gamer would much rather choose Alan Wake over Heavy Rain.
:) and if you noticed from etowne, notice on his profile he has his xbox gamertag, and his gamercard, but for some reason can't post a free PSN name. Yeah, I got a diamond-encrusted alien... but I'm not showin' ya. Whatev. I'm done here lol. I'm about to collect on a bet.
One thing for everyone who saw the training scene in Heavy Rain, yes you start off doing your daily morning routine, but by the end of that day, you are in a room and a computer voice is telling you to cut off you finger. If you don't cut off your finger, then your son is dead. And they give him 5 mins to make a decision. And the way the game plays, it looks like you use the sixaxis to emulate cutting your finger, or not. I may brush my teeth everyday, but I don't up in a scene out of Saw by the afternoon. That will be one wicked game, like those thriller novels. If anyone here hasn't read a real thriller novel, then you don't know how wicked, bloody and a mind F... that Heavy Rain really is. It's slow at the beginning to get you used to the controls and a simple pace. Then it's going to flip that on you and you'll be seeing crazy things, like the dead body in a bath of blood on the Taxidermist short clip; or the killer stuffing these dead women and displaying them as mannequins. He's also calling them his wives and talking to the dead women he killed and stuffed. Wake will be a great game but these two games are completely different and shouldn't be compared.
See, PS3 games have to innovate and pull every possible stunt out of their ass just to not get slammed; but then, when they try innovating and take risks, they get slammed for doing so. On the other hand, with 360 games reviewers are like "OMG IT IS JUST LIKE THE SAME EXCEPT IT IMPROVED IN EVERY WAY, 10/10!!!!111111111". If it tries something new "OMG THAT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE (DID I JUST FORGET PS3 GAMES THAT DID IT BEFORE? MAYBE BUT WHO CARES ITS JUST PS3!) 11/10!!!!". That's the double standard, get used to it.
wow all the people above are still mad @ MAG being wack or what? Yall get real. NO SERIOUSLY! I really like how this article is filled with PS3 owners who probably dont care about this game and they say we dont troll xbox games. :S
No one is even talking about MAG..... You are trying to instigate something though sir. Edit: No seriously what? I see ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of MAG, yet you decide to talk about it, double standard much? GTFO
PS3 owners? Wow, I didn't know owning a ps3 was such a bad thing? @ Max Speed. Are you talking to me? Im not trolling, Im giving my honest opinion. Here's another one. Halo sucks. Does that really make me a troll?
well when you obviously troll every xbox360 games your opinion doesnt really count. Especially u Blade Master. EDIT: Exactly @ Smoke
