2009 a record year for game sales in NZ

Gameplanet writes: "In spite of the economic climate, New Zealand's interactive gaming and entertainment industry posted record growth in 2009. Last year, Kiwis spent $170 million on video games – an increase of 12 percent over 2008.

The sales data, compiled by Gfk Technology Australia, includes all hardware, peripheral and offline retail sales. Online retail sales, monthly subscriptions, downloadable content and games downloaded to mobiles were not included in the data."
