Loadscreen.net have posted an article arguing that motion controllers and 3D technology are going to breathe new life into the games industry. Prepare to be born again ...
LOL @ that pic
lol I liked it too ...
Rebirth for the 360 maybe. The PS3 has been going strong since 2008 with amazing genre defining exclusives and will continue to do so in 2010.
I think it is a rebirth, the lineup for all platforms, both exclusive and multiplat games is amazing. DX11 is breathing new life visually into PC games after stagnation for so long. I have my first pre-order for the year coming tomorrow, followed by Bioshock 2, AVP, Supreme Commander 2 and BFBC2. The rest of the year isn't too shabby either. 360 will see halo reach, and PS3 will likely see KZ3, there are some amazing anime inspired games coming to the Wii, as well as the new Zelda. 2010 for me will be the best year for gaming in the last 10 years, both game wise and hardware. Long live Gaming EDIT: A special mention has to go to Starcraft 2, the greatest RTS game of all time will finally have a sequel. That alone will make 2010 special. @Disagrees Oh i'm sorry what I meant to say was Play Beyond(TM), the cell = skynet, ps3> every other platform. Better?
He starts out with the image of a 360 saying it wants to be a Wii . Yet in the article is self he makes the point that the wand and the Wii are similar (wand being faster and better maybe even than a mouse), then mentions that natal maybe helpful for head tracking (which can also be done on PS eye). Why put 360 on the cover if it only gets honorary mention? It seems like he is trying to get 360 fans to read his article to point out to them that he think PS3 wand is the future of gaming and that Natal and nothing. Very slick. I respect clever work, but wholly disagree. We will all know soon enough. I could list many things Natal can do and the Wiimote or PSeye can't. But I have done that before. I am not a M$ PR man (Just a 360 gamer who tries to keep a little balance around here).
Mainly because PS Eye + Wand + 3D + Head Tracking = better than just a camera, be it Eye Toy or Natal. But which one will be more successful is yet to be seen. You never know what could happen.
THE YEAR THAT SHOWED THAT GAMING WAS LOST. THE YEAR THAT WAS THE MOST MEDIOCRE OF THIS GENERATION. THE YEAR THAT MICROSOFT AND NINTENDO HELD BACK THEIR PREMIERE TITLES. THE YEAR THAT SONY UNVEILED THE DESPERATE PS3 SLIM. THE YEAR THAT PS3 RELEASED ITS HIGHEST RATED GAME... UNCHARTED 2. THE YEAR WHERE THEY STILL COULDN'T OUTSELL THE COMPETITION. THE YEAR WHERE... NO. ONE. CARES. 2009. The Year of the PS3. Congrats. :-) Now it's 2010. Good luck in a REAL year of gaming. You'll need it.
lmao, outdated bot. 2009 was a great year....for PS3 gamers.
You really are an embarrassment, how do you live inside that robotic shell.
Man create another account because one bubble doesn't cut it...
Wait, wait, wait. COME OUT BOTS. 6 agrees? I smell something fishing when the only people who have posted are against his POV. And have any of you realize Ricco, the truth and a few other bots usually post around the same time, I smell multiple accounts. Like ricco has been away from a while, then posted yesterday and today and then Thetruth posted today....
Thanks for the congratulations!! Where do we go to collect the trophy?
for the causal gamers not so much for the hardcore gamers
rebirth of gaming?? so, gaming was dead last year?? or simply returned to the dark womb?? OMG, I was missing so much of the current situation because I was busy GAMING with last year's greatest! the introduction of natal and the wand and to some extent, the 3D is not a rebirth! it's more another leap in gaming industry although the Wii was already there since 2006 where it found that the PS2 with its eyetoy was there but drop dead!
- Hey, thanks for your comments. I'd just like to point out that I never set out to show the 360 as coming up short - it was more to do with the fact I'd already written 1800 words, and much of what I'd already said was about all three systems: Wii, 360 and PS3. Personally, I think Natal will be huge (probably bigger than the PS3mote), though I think we're still waiting for clarification on how it will be used in hardcore games - the ideas I put forward about headtracking are just my best guess at the moment, and I do say that the facial/voice recognition could be awsome for some types of complex games. As for the title pic. Don't try to deconstruct it - I know it kinda falls apart. It was meant to be a general comment about next gen consoles being 'reborn' as motion control consoles like the Wii (it could just as well - and perhaps it should have been - a PS3 in the pic). But then, it's the 360 that is lucking out in the pictured scenario right? And Bad149 - The 'Rebirth of Gaming' title is over the top, I agree, but I had to do it that way as it's a response to a previous post on our site called '2010: The Death of Gaming.' That's why. 'Rebith', might be a bit strong, as you say, 2008/9 were both excellent years for games. Anyway, thanks again for reading guys. I have tried to be fair with the article, and, again, it's only one man's thoughts. I hope it opens up more discussion. frayed
