Why Sam Fisher Voice Actor Turned Down Splinter Cell Conviction At First

Michael Ironside has been the bad-ass voice of Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher since the beginning of the series. He almost didn't come back for a fifth game, though.

He only has one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits. You don't do your job, he'll shoot you himself.

Michael Ironside is the man, even though he pretty much dies a terrible death in every movie he's in. Sam Fisher wouldn't have been the same without him.

"See you at the party Richter!"

Perjoss3246d ago

Starship Troopers and Total Recall, my 2 favorite Micheal Ironside movies.

Anorexorcist3246d ago

Ironside as Richter killed Kuato, but at the same time he killed what I consider to be one of the most annoying internet phenomenons in recent years:

STK0263246d ago

You might not know him for this, but I thought he was great in The Last Chapter, a TV series.

SPOILER
And now that I think about it, he does have a terrible death in that aswell...

Cueil3246d ago

he was in the original V series as well... and thank god he's back on board...

That's badass. Gotta love how voice actors actually have love for the characters they play and just dont lend their voices for just anyone to get paid. Michael Ironside didn't like Conviction's original game and the new Sam Fisher and said no way does he want to voice him. That's a real...and somewhat odd...connection lol. Glad he came through though.

Sub4Dis3246d ago

you know that's probably not the case, right?

ubi probably came back and said, "hey, we've made some changes to the character to make him more human."
ironside: "oh really? neat."
ubi: "oh yeah, and we'll give you an extra $500,000."
ironside: "I'm in!"

I am a fan of Micheal Ironside all the way back to SCANNERS!!

ANd I think its cool that he is not just doing it for the money and is interested in the actual character he is playing.

He could easily just read the lines and cash another PHAT check from UBISOFT.

Double Toasted3246d ago (Edited 3246d ago )

80s baby...what they know about that!?!?!?!? Movies were so creative back then...*sigh*

GCNSean3246d ago

Hells yeah.. Scanners rocked!! As someone said, they don't make um like they used too.. especially 80's flicks... (80's was the coolest 10 years ever)... He also played "Ham Tyler" in the original "V" series... He was also a bad-ass in that too... Sam Fisher would Scan Snake and make his head explode...

Rockox3246d ago

I love Michael Ironside. I wonder if they had to work to make his Canadian accent less noticeable for the game? I remember in "V" his accent came thru quite a bit.

GCNSean3246d ago

Yeah... he always wore that black leather jacket and blew crap up in "V"... And was always busting Mike Donovan's balls...
