Michael Ironside has been the bad-ass voice of Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher since the beginning of the series. He almost didn't come back for a fifth game, though.
thats the guy in starship troopers. LOL
He was Richter in Total Recall, too.
Solidus187-SCMilk, you remind me of this guy in Alan Partridge, he laughs for no reason as well - http://www.youtube.com/watc...
SEE YOU AT THE PARTY, RICHTER!
HE'S GOT A HOLOGRAAAAM!!
He was Jester in Top Gun JESTERS DEAD YEEHAW
but below the hard deck doesnt count. "FLY INNNN TOOOOO THEEEEE DANGERRR ZONEEE, danger Zone" Yeah I used custom soundtracks to play that song while playing Ace combat 6.
He only has one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits. You don't do your job, he'll shoot you himself.
Michael Ironside is the man, even though he pretty much dies a terrible death in every movie he's in. Sam Fisher wouldn't have been the same without him. "See you at the party Richter!"
Top Gun Nuff said
Starship Troopers and Total Recall, my 2 favorite Micheal Ironside movies.
Ironside as Richter killed Kuato, but at the same time he killed what I consider to be one of the most annoying internet phenomenons in recent years:
You might not know him for this, but I thought he was great in The Last Chapter, a TV series. SPOILER And now that I think about it, he does have a terrible death in that aswell...
he was in the original V series as well... and thank god he's back on board...
That's badass. Gotta love how voice actors actually have love for the characters they play and just dont lend their voices for just anyone to get paid. Michael Ironside didn't like Conviction's original game and the new Sam Fisher and said no way does he want to voice him. That's a real...and somewhat odd...connection lol. Glad he came through though.
you know that's probably not the case, right? ubi probably came back and said, "hey, we've made some changes to the character to make him more human." ironside: "oh really? neat." ubi: "oh yeah, and we'll give you an extra $500,000." ironside: "I'm in!"
I am a fan of Micheal Ironside all the way back to SCANNERS!! ANd I think its cool that he is not just doing it for the money and is interested in the actual character he is playing. He could easily just read the lines and cash another PHAT check from UBISOFT.
80s baby...what they know about that!?!?!?!? Movies were so creative back then...*sigh*
Hells yeah.. Scanners rocked!! As someone said, they don't make um like they used too.. especially 80's flicks... (80's was the coolest 10 years ever)... He also played "Ham Tyler" in the original "V" series... He was also a bad-ass in that too... Sam Fisher would Scan Snake and make his head explode...
I love Michael Ironside. I wonder if they had to work to make his Canadian accent less noticeable for the game? I remember in "V" his accent came thru quite a bit.
Yeah... he always wore that black leather jacket and blew crap up in "V"... And was always busting Mike Donovan's balls...
Bad-ass voice actor? He can't hold a candle to David Hayter & Solid Snake.
Sorry, bud. In a no-holds-barred cagefight, Michael Ironside would kick David Hayter's ass everytime.
Hmm I wonder where ubisoft got the idea for this stealth game. Ohh and that new griddy look he has looks familiar too. I wonder
Yeah Maybe, but Ironside is moving up there in age you know. But in a no-holds-barred Stealth-A-Thon, Old Snake would make Sam Fisher his Beeatch, then pop a cig (and then probably a Diazepam) to celebrate!!!
I ain't talking about stealth, Anorexorcist. I'm talking about full-on voice bad-assery. Hayter voices Snake and Captain America. Ironside voices Fisher and frickin' DARKSEID, lord of goddamn Apokolips!! NEED I SAY MORE.
Take your clone elsewhere :-P
Since when has depth of character been an issue for Michael Ironside???!
Since he played Capt. Hudson on SeaQuest.
I'm glad he decided to keep with it. I couldn't image Fisher with anyone other voice. It just fits so well. That would have been a huge let down.
this sucks so hard!!! PERIOD!
So this is why they cancelled first project. They have still some respect for fans, they couldnt make it without his bad-ass voice. Good job UBI!
I thought he originally wanted too much money so they dropped him.
Ironside is a legend. Has anyone else noticed he seems to lose both his arms in many of his films. He is the best armless actor ever, he does it so well.
I'm not sure I could even play this game without having him in it. It would just feel weird. "Are you gonna say monkey?" lol
