In a statement released today to the press, SCEA senior director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold confirmed that Sony will be delivering its answer to Microsoft's Project Natal before the end of the year.
"2010 will offer entirely new gaming experiences to consumers as we launch MAG, God of War III, 3D gaming, and the new motion controller this year.” The statement seems to be in chronological order. So it will come out after Sony's 3D firmware update? @ 1.1 Yea same here
I wulda rather heard "Coming this Spring"
i thought spring as well... wait and see i guess
I think the next time that Sony shows their motion controller, its gonna come out with a BANG! Jaw dropping amazing sh1t! til then, Sony will just watch and let MS talk this'n that all they want about natal cause it's just creating more pressure on themselves not to fail in any way of many will be extremely disappointed. I believe in the wands 100% after watching that sword & shield tech demo at E3..as for natal, not so much.
Wasn't it supposed to come out in two months?? If not, why are they releasing Resident Evil 5 for Sony's motion controller in march?
The Resident Evil game, I thought, was confirmed for 'spring' in Japan. Since Mr. Seybold works for SCEA perhaps the 'sphere' is not being launched worldwide at the same time but in the spring for Japan and later for the rest of the world? (bad choice imo)
Here it says March 9 for US: http://uk.ps3.ign.com/artic...
http://www.capcom-unity.com... The way I read that is that the content is coming in the spring but the functionality of motion control might not be there for the US/EU market until later.
They need to turn that E3 tech demo with the sword fighting and archery into a medieval hack and slash with great graphics. I'll buy two controllers for that.
Considering how little we've seen of it, I highly doubt it would be coming before fall 2010. Looks like this is going to go right up against Natal.
Sony need to shake up the people working on this, otherwise it gives the impression of a half arsed product. Natal is too much hype and the marketing for psmotion seems to think no attention is good attention lol. edit: If i were in charge get studio japan to do a new build of folklore built around motion control but keeping costs down same with a new installment of Siren with some cool augmented reality instead of eyepet in your living room its the girl from the ring, some ape escape party games. Get ea and sega to do a fitness game and tennis, and delay heavy rain so it uses the controller and bundle it for a knockdown price, prove it can be used for some serious stuff.
Hype + Marketing = Sales.
Still not sold on this idea. I'll need some hands-on before I start to care. Did look impressive, though.
hands on what controller? Oh you were talking about natal. *rolls eyes*
I concur, a hands on preview yourself would be the best thing to really see how good it is. I think that after the motion controller is released every game from then forth should have an option whether to be played by a controller or the motion wand. That is if there are going to be games that could be played both ways.
What do they mean "answer"! They were both announced at the same event and Sony actually had a working prototype and are also launching sooner. Answer to Wiimote maybe!
if sony made a star wars game with the combat style of naruto ultimate ninja storm the world would stop the next day
Thats all they need to do to win a lot of people over IMO, release a decent Star Wars FPS with good graphics and story.
That's the first thing i thought of when they showed off that sword & shield demo. A star wars game with true 1.1 motion would be SICK! Edit: Now that i think about it.. That Sword & shield demo was pretty badass too!
Man I could really care less if Sony drops there motion controller and MS drops Natal. Just give me a normal controller and let me set my fat but on the lazy boy and let me play. The last thing I want to be doing is jumping up and down in my living room waving my arms and body like some crazy mad man. I'm just fine playing my PS3 with my Dualshock 3 / Sixaxis controller. Same goes for my 360 controller.
The 'Jump around waving my arms like a lunatic' comment is just randomly being copy/pasted nowadays. I was playing Super Mario Galaxy for the first time last week and I did it lying half on the couch with my legs crossed.
Yeah, 'Jump around waving arms like a lunatic' is overused among brainless kids who think they're funny. See also: 'Buh... buh... buh...', '(to) praise something like a second coming of Christ', 'overrated', 'overhyped' and 'biased media'.
no way dude. Ive been dreaming about playing games like in real life using swords and shields since I was a little kid. I just got done playing Dragon Quest Swords and absolutely loved it. Sure it was short, but the combat was fresh, and rewarding. Now times that with true 1:1 motion , plus 3-D now will be the day I can die a happy nerd.
it is a natural evolution of the PS EYE technology that has been incubating since at least 2005 if you look at Dr. Marks' videos.
I think that picture with the arrow looks cool cause the player (from what I can tell of the picture) holds 2 controllers, draws one back and then hits a button to release the arrow. The Wii would probably be something like, Hold A, wiggle, release. http://www.articlesbase.com...
Im not for motion controlls myself just gimme my dualshock controller and some quality exclusives and im happy. Leave the gimmicks to Nintendo and focus on the games. The only game that would bring me into the motion hype is demons souls with the wand.
i have read a good number of Natal doom articles that I thought were jumping on the failure bandwagon too soon before we had even really seen it in action. Please dont do this for the PS3 motion thing, lets give em both a chance before we claim doom and failure.
I'm not buying your motion controller. As a result of that, I'm not buying any game that requires it. If you move your focus toward motion controls, I will move my focus away from you. Microsoft, the same goes for you.
... I already covered your thoughts on the matter in another thread... http://n4g.com/NewsCom-4562...
only way i will be interested in motion controls is if they make the 3d tech game purposely 4 them
