Infinity Ward still keen on WWII says Collier to CVG

Infinity Ward might have left World War II behind for its latest Call of Duty game but this doesn't mean it's lost its passion for the setting, the developer's revealed to CVG.

"We really like World War II. We wouldn't have worked on it for seven years if we didn't like it", the developer's president Grant Collier told us in a recent interview, before explaining that he doesn't think the World War II first-person shooter is dead. "

But if Infinity Ward makes another, I'll check it out of course. But I probably won't buy or even rent unless it's got something new and original about it.

Maybe a gory/realistic/intense war game. Maybe mix the Gears realistic gore with a real-life war? They could make it intense, say if some poor chap gets hit with a nade or 20mm round and just loses limbs or torso or whatnot.

I've got mega-respect for the vets of WW2. I'm not trying to say I want to see them get chopped up, just looking for a little more realistic, "Saving Private Ryan" type of gameplay.

If you want realistic, check out Red Orchestra on the PC, its a fantastic multiplayer game with pretty realistic gore considering its built on UE2 tech.

But I don't own a pc gaming rig. I've got a notebook with centrino core duo processors? Is that enough? I'm not really informed on hardware sorry.

I'm a big fan of WWII games. I'll never get tired of them. From the first time I played Battlefield 1942 I was hooked.

For those of us that have played the WWII games of the past 5 years are probably a bit tired of the genre. Especially the COD series. There is very little innovation between titles, mainly because they can't really add technology or new twists because they want to remain true to history.

But, you will always have new gamers who haven't played the whole slew of WWII games, and are looking for a new take on the era that uses the latest dev tricks and updated graphics.

@ nobizlikesnobiz, check out the site: http://www.redorchestragame...

I think your processor is fine, but you'll also need a GFX card and 512Mb ram.

Red Orchestra is without a doubt the best WW2 multiplayer FPS in that last 3 years...so much so I am working on the mod Mare Nostrum for it.

Thanks man. Looks like a cool game. Looks like a BF42 mod, but wayyyyy better. I almost got into playing some BF42 mods.

That was basically the only PC game that I've ever really played a lot. That and Aliens vs. Predator Gold.
