Led Zeppelin Refused To Be In Guitar Hero Because of Need For Multi-Tracks

BeefJack writes: "You know what we haven't had in a while? Renowned artists slamming Rhythm Gaming based on their fear of new things! In an interview with The Independent, Jimmy Page formerly of Led Zeppelin made another one of his legendary quips against the longstanding Guitar Hero franchise- also, to further the disappointment of fans, has once again shunned the possibility of a Led Zeppelin tie-in." (Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)

Led Zeppelin = EPIC! Who ever makes the first Zeppelin game (not track) will get my money.

Thank God for that.
I consider it a personal sign of the apocalypse if Rock Band/GH released a Pink Floyd game. Never thought I'd be happy for the dissention between Gilmour and Waters to exist. And while Led and Sabbath are my other favs, I was much less optimistic about them. Seeing how Page and Iommi usually prostitute their wares to the highest bidders, this is refreshing to see.

I recall hearing Page say the main reason he wouldn't allow a Led Zeppelin game was that they wanted the original masters for all the music, and he doesn't trust anyone with those.

Years ago I could zay Zeppelin is pissing is pants, another rockstar bashing a popular game, but now I feel such decision is a good thing. Activision must stop [insert instrument] Hero games. Three Guitar Hero games per year is not a sane choice.

After Guitar Hero Van Halen, Guitar Hero Metallica, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, what will be the next? Guitar Hero Iron Maiden? Guitar Hero Scorpions? Guitar Hero AC/DC? Guitar Hero Rolling Stones? Guitar Hero Sex Pistols? Guitar Hero Nickelback? Guitar Hero Linkin Park? Guitar Hero Paramore? Guitar Hero Flyleaf? Guitar Hero Black Rebel Motorcycle Club?

Enough already. Activision need to stop their politic of "too much games, too much money" and rather focus on quality games. And that's available for non-rythm games as well.

People should be happy GH isnt getting it . If even one franchise deserved such stars and would treat them with respect , it would be Rockband .

Pretty much the only way to not see their 3d creepy model singing "la bamba" with not even close to accurate charts

Except that I hate playing Rockband, it's just too slow on anything but expert. LZ is one of those rare bands that actually has enough truly great songs to fill a game without having to add any other bands to the mix, so there would no need to see Plant singing La Bamba :)

except they always add other stuff and songs from other groups anyway . it's as if they were afraid that for some ridiculous reason , someone buying the game for a precise band , wouldnt enjoy only having it's song in the disc , and more of those .

I'd say it's just trimming the fat with less expensive licences and the less songs as possible to sell the game as full .

I dont agree that rb is slower or easier than GH . GH is pretty accomodating lately , it leniently recognizes input and gives you a huge margin of timing error when it comes to button presses , even in the hard modes .

Imo in Rb you dont , you either had the note , or you didnt , in every normal and harder modes . It is more a case of medium and hard being night and day in rb imo .
Anyway like i said , i dont like at all gh's charting , rb isnt precisely accurate neither , but it's not distracting with unheard notes being played , and sometimes other instruments popping in and being played by your guitar .

I dont think that Led , if ever considering someday making the jump , would allow a game to go so carefree with it's note charts and taking such liberties .

while rb is maybe slower ...Rb for sure is way harder to switch difficulties ( from medium to hard for example ) than in GH ...
kneon  +   2060d ago
I don't understand, if GH is more lenient then why can I usually play rockband songs on expert after only 1-3 trys yet on GH is takes actual practice and sometimes many, some times far too many, attempts. You'd think it would be the other way around as I'm more familiar with GH. Maybe I'm just weird.

good, i'd hate to see led zeppelin get humiliated by the morons who work at activision.
cyberwaffles  +   2061d ago
zeppelin is above this, page said in a Guitar World magazine a while ago how stupid the games were and i agree. also i don't even think zeppelin ever agreed to signing digital distribution rights or handling of their master tracks to other third parties, since page is so anal on controlling them himself. hell, page was the backbone to zeppelin: he led the direction of the band's image and made sure no agent would make them sellout to gimmicks, he made sure he was the primary producer and actually dictated sound engineers' methods, he eventually made his own Swan Song label; this guy just won't let anyone tamper with his originals and i don't blame him. GH just degrades each band it signs like the 5 dollar hooker around the corner in downtown San Fran.

Page knows what he's doing.
He always has.

You see......the devil's his friend.
