Physics glitch found at recently released Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo.
Cars are really built like tanks... I mean it spent time on it's nose and the frame wasn't even touched... AMAZING!
yeah lol http://www.youtube.com/watc...
@ThatCanadianguy420 lol lol bubbles. Play3beyond.
It is NOT the final game, there are bound to be glitches in a Time Trial demo. I'm sure the final game won't have this glitch. I would hardly call this news...
every game have glitches hope they fix the games EDIT : i don't think it's even a glitch it's the real game physics when you hit the wall the car bounce and spin http://www.youtube.com/watc...
And yet when the Forza 3 demo had glitches, there were several articles about it. You should have read what the Sony fanboys were saying then.
Definitely looks like an unintended physics glitch to me. Those little markers are obviously not bolted to the ground, since the first one moved, yet the second one ramped an entire car without even touching a wheel. I'm sure there's plenty of touching up to do with the engine still, so it's not really a big deal (let's hope so at least).
Your grammar has glitches! xP But you are right it's probably just the game physics =)
Cuz I was testing out the physics (which are great.. no sarcasm) and i started hitting those distance markers and I noticed.. the collision detection on those are not only completely off, but extremely exaggerated. If you tap one, the go about 20 meters and I would see the car make a little hop. I've always hoped it would get underneath the vehicle and make it do that. Seriously, just drive up to one and tap it, or push it against a wall while you are pushing on it.
This glitch isn't even as bad compared to other racing games. Looks to me like the car hopped a little because it tried to run over a movable yet indestructible object. Kinda like a ramp effect. In Forza 3, your car hops for no reason at all.
Nothing to be worry about
sorry guys but please complain about glitches in the final game right now ..i don't see the problem ...
I know it's not the final build and all, but this glitch and Forza's nose stand is just hilarious. Hydrolics! Hope all glitches/bugs or any other issues get resolved before its release next year.
And forza's car did a impossible weightless nosestand? Thats the same guys... really?
I don't see what the issue is. You clip a wall, you'll spin. But still, they are fine tuning the game. This demo is an old build, but with some physics added. It is far from the final product.
Here's the newsflash. It's a video game. Not real life. Of course the physics are flawed, it's a game. And yeah, ps fanboys were pretty hard on forza 3, even though those physics are fantastic as well. Basically just news for fanboys.
This car is equipped with Jump Jacks, just like the Mach 5: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Last time i heard about this whole gt5/F3 thing, Turn10 was saying how they are the sim kings...did you hear any crap talk from PD? Nope, like i'm saying turn10 ran their fat mouths. And c'mon face it, this is nowhere as bad as doing 3 donuts in MID air, then standing straight up from the bumper, moving across the road.
Do you take fanboys seriously? People that say all games have glitches are correct, none are perfect. Fanboys are generally full of it and shouldn't be paid attention to when they actually say stupid **** nvm bringing them up as part of some misguided point you're trying to make in another discussion.
Glitch turismo confirmed
220 MB Demo of game that is 3+ months away: Confirmed.
Is that seriously the best you can come up with? Quiet pathetic honestly
Omg a glitch in a 220mb demo wow thats news to me...
Glad people are pointing these glitches out, the game is still far off, so it allows PD to fix them. Sadly, Turn 10 waited too long and never had the chance.
The whole reason why they released this demo was to get exposure, demonstrate the physics, and get some mass play testing done so that they can find these types of glitches. Everyone seems to be getting defensive because they feel like the article was posted to trash the game, this article was posted to help PD, and I think they appreciate it as should everyone who is looking forward to this game. If anything this just shows how minute the physics errors are in this game. You shouldn't be running into those things in the first place, and the results isn't even some drastic or absurd.
4 years for this??? but but gears 2 have glitchs! hahahhaha
Yeah... it does.... and?
There's so much stupid in comment I don't even know where to start.
@ps3hasnogamess your comments are full of FAIL. Play3beyond.
Few hours later, this will be floated with Xbots. And they'll start contradicting themselves.
It's old code and already fixed. NEXT
Yea because the Video with the Damaged Surburu shows the car plowing into markers and the car didnt bounce at all.
Go to Youtube, type [game] + glitch, you're guaranteed to see at least one video containing a glitch.
That is no glitch. If you look closely the thick rectangular object rolls under the car for a split second and forces the car to lift over it. Either that or something lol.
well it's a physics glitch, because i don't think cars can float over those lol.
I don't give a damn about the glitch but why the hell is it so ugly?
This has already been discussed. It's an old build, showing off physics rather than graphics, which is why it looks worse than GT5P and way worse than the Tokyo/Subaru demos they've been showing.
It's supposed to show how good the physics are and we get glitches like that! I really hope they fix those things. Like maybe adding some sense of speed would be nice. If they leave it like that imo they're not heading in the right direction with those improved physics. Just my opinion.
Is this the first GT demo that had any glitches like this?
GT5: Prologue had lots of em. Ufo car is my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
This glitch off a Demo that was probably put together over a coffee break. If people get soo rattled up because of this you should just throw basically all your games in the bin.
I mean its a Time Trial Demo for an event that is highly compressed down to 200mb. What did you expected?
are these the final graphics? or is it just a physics demonstration? tell me please
Source Read ~ http://www.gtplanet.net/gra... And I quote ~ "someone with access to the demo also received an email from Sony that wanted to emphasize *****this is not a demo of Gran Turismo 5, and is only being released for GT Academy.***** Polyphony Digital has also posted a new press release, clearly stating the demo was *****specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine and nothing more.*****"
thanks for the info a full demo would be better, you know there are too many gamers who thought that this was THE gt5 demo
I doubt so , most gt5 prologue owners knows it looked a bit better . And pretty much every gameplay (as in actual gameplay) trailers do looks better . People would complain however the demo was named (hence the mini fuss at its release) , with exception of stuff like "not a gt5 demo" or removing the GT from the name . It was either releasing it for their purposes , such as the competition , and getting feedback on the physic engines ... Or releasing nothing before near release date . My bet is PD couldnt care less and know it wouldnt deter GT fans , well aware the game would look and even plya better in the end .
This isn't even really a glitch. The physics of the situation demand that the block rolls underneath the car. But the physics model doesn't allow deformation of the block, nor the car. So what can possibly happen? The car must roll on top of the block. There will ALWAYS be limitations of physics systems in games. So all it is is a physics limitation, not a glitch. With fully-rigid body dynamics, you get these kind of curiosities. But that's what would happen if the car and the block WERE rigid.
It's a 200 MEG(!!!) download. It is nowhere near representative of GT5, so all the fear mongers can take a seat and wait for something else.
So let me get this straight. Polyphony builds this game which takes about 5 years to date. Polyphony have stated that the game is finished and can be released anytime ( http://www.gamesindustry.bi... back in June of 09. Then they say that the game will be released in March ( http://ps3.ign.com/objects/... ). So to build up the hype and promote their up and coming game, they release an old physics build of the game as quoted by PirateTom aka. Sony Fanboy "This has already been discussed. It's an old build, showing off physics rather than graphics, which is why it looks worse than GT5P and way worse than the Tokyo/Subaru demos they've been showing." Yet as you can see this "OLD" physics build is completely sh1t. So here is the question that nobody (sony fanboys) seem to want to ask... Why would Sony allow an "OLD" build of the physics engine instead of the "CURRENT" build of the physics engine be playable for download if its not going to be the build that will be in the final game? Why would Polyphony say this is just to allow the "potential" GT5 buyers demo what the physics engine will be like if this particular Physics engine is not a representation of what will be in the game? Seems a little counter productive.... Answer: This IS THE FINAL BUILD!!! Polyphony is aware that the Physics Engine is not perfect and there will always be glitches here and there in EVERY GAME. So they say "this is an old build of the physics engine" to protect themselves. I know that there will be a lot of Sony Loyalist that will jump on this to defend Sony...so i am looking forward to someone actually answering the question that i stated above with a logical and reasonable answer... Can't wait.
No one was talking about the physics model being an old build, you mong. Read the posts again.
was that car flying ?
I JUST CANT WAIT FOR GT5 to be released!!! 1st day for ME!!!! YOU GUYS BETTER HOPE ITS A BETTER SIM THAN FORZA 3
Will it be reviews, sales or actual quality that will matter most to you? I mean I know hypocrisy knows no bounds on N4G but I want people to speak their mind now as to what will matter most with this particular game. I will go on record and say GT5 will significantly out sell Forza 3. I believe GT5 will look a good deal better than Forza 3. I believe GT5 will be a bigger and over all better driving game than Forza 3. I believe reviewers (although I could care less about the gaming media and their opinions) will review GT5 below Forza 3. Without question I believe GT5 will be a better game for gamers like me that own racing setups. Forza 3 is limited in that regard. Forza 3 is a really good game but "my honest opinion" is GT5 will be the better game overall. Oh and look no further than my profile to see that I logged some serious gaming hours into Forza 3. I am only a few serious gaming sessions away from possibly getting all the achievements for this game. So I'm not hating but just stating my honest opinion <- which is a rarity on N4G. Edit: BTW EDC what is your XBL gamertag? Let's see how far along you are in Forza 3 since you are so interested in stirring the pot and starting a GT5 vs Forza 3 debate.
there's still plenty of time and this is by no mean a representation of the final product . hell , i would love to see more glitches like this . why ? the more you point out , the less you'll see in the final product . complain all you want . you're contributing to make the game closer to being PERFECT !
After hitting the markers.. the car should go BULLET SPEED! Messed up big time... GT failed !
not bad, when compared to a certain other racing simulator... http://www.youtube.com/watc... not bad at all.
the way the car landed and the suspension absorbed it looked very accurate. The take off maybe not, but the suspension on the landing was right on.
i dont mind heving that glitch right there actually... its pretty cool im pretty sure GT has got that handles up btw the physics on this game in phenomenal! incredibly precise and logical
whos going to be driving there anyway unless u suck
thats exactly why PD released this, to check these errors. Its far cheaper and easier to give out a demo n test the engine than do closed testings. Take note IW and Bethesda...
Good thing it's just the demo and not the actual game
Unintentional, but one could try to understand why it happened and make a supposition about the rules and limitations of the physics engine. The second box was hit almost straight on. Thus the box rolled onwards in front of the car, but without enough momentum to separate itself from the car. The physics engine subsequently allows the car to "jump" over the slowing box, possibly because the box managed to slip under the car's collision boundaries, and the game must lift the car. The box should have been pushed along in front of the car. I can see why it happened, and it looks like it needs a tweak to the collision aspect of the engine. As clearly stated, it is a demo of the physics engine, and not of the final product. I'm sure they'll take notice, and fix it accordingly.
203 MB... The end.
