The winner of this award is very surprising indeed. Check it out folks.
Everytime I read something about Resident Evil 4, I just can't help but remember how disappointed I am with RE5. Oh Capcom, what have ye done? What have ye done?
What they have done ?? They fuc_king fired Shinji Mikami. The genius behind RE 1-4. Without him RE is dead. Anyway, Without Resident Evil 4 you wouldnt have games like Gears of War and Uncharted .
That list lacks SotC.
blame the people that was calling the game racist
i agree with every game on that list especially MGS4 when snake is going through the microwave tunnel the most emotionaly gripping momment i've ever experienced in a game, gears of war was amazing because we straight up never saw a game that looked that good at the time, resident evil 4 really wow'd me as well the game gave you so many options on how to approach an enemy
Mgs4 check list approved
MGS4: The microwave tunnel was... ehh... ok. There were better parts of the game to look at... like the fight between two Metal Gears, or the fight on top of the sub. You know... parts that had real gameplay to hold them up, rather than overwrought Snake nuking.
What a pleasant suprise to find Deus Ex here. It deservers the place
"Without Resident Evil 4 you wouldnt have games like Gears of War and Uncharted." ghosthunter was the first game to play like Resident Evil 4 Gears of War and Uncharted. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
And you throw in Kill.Switch's cover system, and you have GeOW and Uncharted's gameplay exactly. But at the same time, he has a point... it takes a game to popularize a new method before it's spread around. You can be innovative all you want, but if only 5 thousand people ever even see your innovation, it will be lost to the annals of history... much like Ghosthunter.
ghosthunter was a good hit back in 2004 the media was talking in two way negative & positive abut the game. but the the fact most People say RE4 is the first game to bring this system because of the fan. ghosthunter have very few fan maybe 1:20 camper to RE4 fan, just like xbox360 fan always say GeOW is the first game to bring this system.
with Max Payne 1, from 2001...Halo 1 didn't awe me, but I had fun with it. Max Payne 1 now, is in my top 5 games of all time.
Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Rachet & Clank, Jak & Daxter. And Snake is no hero, never was, never will b.
I do not understand why people love RE4 so much. I found it spectacularly average. It had a few tense/suspenseful moments during gameplay, but the story was totally idiotic, and I hate the stop and shoot game mechanic (don't give me excuses, there are plenty of other ways to create suspense/fear in a game). I guess people just like aiming a red laser sight? I do not see anything that would back up giving this title "game of the decade". I would have given it to ICO or SotC.
Very good list. But would have chosen MGS4 to win, I think its the best game ive ever played. Truely amazing. But then again, ive never played RE4 XD RE5 put me off XD
MGS4 was the first truly next gen game. Breathtaking visuals, an epic score, amazing story, a great finish, great unlockables, a nostalgia level, an in-game Ipod, and you could play the game any way you wanted.
Are you serious?
What that Ive never played RE4? =D
But only Natal's pretzel man made me say "BAM! There it is."
No Bioshock, Portal or Crysis? crap list
they picked one game for each year so it was always going to miss a number of 'wow' games, the definition itself being pretty subjective in the first place.
its was a little shocking at first but then after that you think what game is gonna be good for this
Crysis only had good graphics. Wasnt a fan of Bioshock either
Crysis was really only best for the Mods. But Bioshock man, is a phenomenal game. I don't want to here any bad talk about Ryan's Utopia.
Bioshock was everyone's token "creative" fps. It had a few good ideas, but the Big Daddy concept was just so... imbalanced. Wail on him, die, wail on him, die, wail on him, kill him, lose track of sister, wail on him, die.... you get the picture.
You must have pretty poor cognitive learning skills if that happened to you throughout the entire game. Especially if you lose track of a Little Sister and then die again after wailing on the Big Daddy's corpse.
I also didn't think Bioshock was that great, but I thought the Big Daddy fights were pretty awesome and intense. I think I just hated the ammo management, with both the actual ammo plus powers. If the powers recharged I think I would have had a better time with it. Also the endings were total crap. I did not play the entire game twice for some lame 30 second CG alternate ending.
RE4 is easily one of my fav games to come out in a long time, however i'd say SoTC or better Ico should be on that list however, Deus Ex is the best game this decade imo, no argument =D
bjornbear, I agree, Deus Ex is the best game I have ever played.
Whats Deus X about? Looked at vids but it looks real old, are they making a new one any time soon? =D
Do not let the graphics fool you. The game is amazing.
~Bioshock should be there. It's first ten minutes set you up for a world and story unlike anything you've ever seen before. Truly the greatest FPS/Exploration Adventure since Metroid Prime. ~Also Fallout 3 can hold a spot. Stepping out into the wasteland, sun glare in your face, you see the Washington Monument eclipsing the light 5 miles away. Just Wow! But this is still a great list. And I think MGS4 took the cake for the 2008 pick for sure.
Solid list, but not an RPG in the bunch? I can accept that. Half Life 2 is probably my favorite game of the decade, though.
