Here are ten things that you may or may not know about your PS3. Some are obvious, but some people out there still might not be aware of them.
LOL I remember that concept image of the PS3.... anyway, only one i didnt know about was #8
It voids your warranty, #8. The screw to remove the faceplate is behind the "Warranty void if removed" sticker.
I already knew EVERY SINGLE thing on that list. And yes, #8 voids your warranty.
Great List. Man, I wish we had Vidzone here in the States.
What? That's a horrible list. But I'd love vidzone as well, I hate music channels that don't play music videos (I mean, WTF?). So, seeing some new music videos would be pretty cool.
The only one i didn't know was about the MAC address, going to write that number down somewhere now.
If you don't know about these features then I question if you actually own a PS3.
that conncept image turned to be more accurate for the X360
WHAT!!! THE PS3 IS REGION FREE ? when did that happen? why didnt anyone tell me?, excuse me whilst i go and import demon's souls and the god of war collection
I never stopped to think that the mac address of my ps3 could lead cops to it if it ever got stolen. I'm about to write it down today because i'm in college and the thought of my roommate accidentally leaving the door unlocked and it getting stolen always worried me.
shows a TOTAL LACK OF IMAGINATION! what idiot thought that making the PS2 3 times thicker and adding a second drive would be innovative? It reminds me of the Family Truckster station wagon from national lampoons Vacation. http://image.musclemustangf...
was REMOTE PLAY. being to track your stolen PS3 down(granted the thief plays it online) via mac address is awesome and will really increase the chance that your ps3 will be recovered.
i knew all of these things
I'm glad you were able to amaze us all with your superior knowledge. I'm so very happy you spent your own precious time to type that into the comments section.
I am quite proud of my superior knowledge and I am glad to know you appreciate the fact that i spent my valuable sitting-on-the-jon-taking-a-cr ap-and-reading-n4g time to type that comment
Picture information on the PS3 is loaded down with every bit of deatail about the picture. Even down to shutter speed, time taken, camera model used. It's a great feature. Agree if you used it Disagree if you own only a 360 and have no clue what pic info is.
man, would love to have a RED or SILVER plate for my ps3 instead of dull black
I wish they would bring back see-through systems. like nintendo did with gameboys and N64s. And the see through funky green xboxs too.
@4.1 trust me it wouldnt be that interestng 2 large metal blocks and part of a very large heatsink not very interesting
The original Launch 20gb (discontinued shortly after) has no backwards compatibility at all or any of the extra card slots. It was as barebone as a PS3 could have been. Other than that a good article pointing out some of the "smaller" things to the system that does "Everything".
Your wrong the 20gb has FULL B/C. It just has no wi-fi or chrome or memory slots....but at least it has FULL B/C
nope actually da 20gb model was just like a 60 gb model..except no wifi n 40 less gigs...i have both a 20 n 60 n yes no card readers
Beaten twice. What those guys said
I was expecting tips and tricks like being able to stream avi/mov/xvid straight from the web browser just by clicking on the link. Or did you know you can save media from a website by pressing triangle on the link then going to file -> save target link. Did you know you can categorize your games/movies/pictures yourself. Or how you get your PS3 to download and install your new items before it turns itself off. Those were the kinds of things I was expecting.. Anybody have any other good hidden features?
How do you catorgorize your games section?
Press triangle over the game you want to categorise
Then choose 'information'
then select album, and put in the category you want it in, e.g. 'Demo' for demo games
Then you're done
and you just press square to change the sort type
(you want sort by album)
but two of those are irrelavent to me. Vidzone, I'll check out, But I have a PS3 phat, so the Bravia thing not so much, and I don't ever get imported games, so that doesn't matter either. Though I suppose it is kindof nice to know.
I can safely say that i have saved quite a lot of money by importing games.. Also not being bothered by INTEGRAL version of the games ( with bad dubbing ) is also a plus when you can just import the version you want . As for remote play it's underused but so kwel ( especially when a small % of games works ! by remote play ) PS: vidzone is excellent .
Being region free is a huge plus. Especially for importing games which are altered here because of the lack of an R rating.
I wish my 'old' PS3 had bravia sync as well. Perhaps in an update!
imported games afrika, r2 warhawk blacksite uncharted endwar blazblue others. yup region free makes a lot of gamers happy hence why i own a us and a uk ps3 :) on stateside on uk :)
I already knew all of those. Comon! try harder next time!
Didn't spend more than a minute on the page. Great investigation on this article.
If you 'file, save target'.....even when not 'allowed' you can effectively copy anything onto the hd.The trick is knowing how and when. The PS3 seems able to get around the copy protection of most sites.....1 other thing you didn't know.
I have a NTSC PS3 and a pal Heavenly Sword game and the game is region locked to 2..... so remove that siht.
I've never come across a region locked game.
So it seems to be the odd game that's region locked.
I googled a bit, and it might be down to your connection type
apparently standard connection to an sdtv can interfere with it somehow :S apparently hdmi->hdtv allows more/all games to be played
the games are region free but the online isn't. my guitar hero world tour is region 4, ff13 region 3, eyepet region 2, etc. I've never had a problem with NTSC/PAL.
...but some of the DLC for games is not. If you buy a region 1 edition of a game then you need to purchase the region 1 DLC for that game, e.g. COD4.
PAL can't be run through an NTSC system without an HDMI cable.
FF13 is.............good? or bad?
This article clearly aims for the quite un-techy crowd who barely knows what bluray is. None of the things listed should come as a surprise to anyone with a modicum of general knowledge about the very product they bought.
but I have to admit i wasn't aware that you could change the faceplate :)
guess I'm God or something then, cause I already knew. long time ago.
30 comments and 5 of them were from ppl who just had to write that they already knew all the features. Well, I guess we should all appeal to you guys whenever we have a technical question. That's what you guys were looking for right? A pat on the back? A medal perhaps?
Doctor Who and Torchwood lol, both made in Wales by/ for BBC Doctor Who: The End of Time Part 1 was awesome can't wait for Part 2 New Years Day
Especially when im sat at the pub and i can now watch freeview on my sony aino phone, or watch die hard from the movie store.
I will take a picture of the region locked game (when I have time). It has a earth with a number 2 on it... I have my PS3 connected to my Sony 46W3000 tv, and yes it's with an HDMI cable. It's people like the guys above who are obviously ignorant about #2 and say it's region free, "helped" me decide to purchase the game.
Last year I dropped my PS3..... yeah I know, and now the faceplate slides off. Is my warranty void?
