The countdown of the 50 Greatest Games of the Decade examines #40 through #31.

As the article gets into Part II, a few of them sharing a common theme: artistic, independent video games that attempted, and succeeded, to do something different, though one or two suffered poor sales. However, their influence carried long after they vanished from shelves. Others were either a part of or began popular franchises, making a gazillion bucks while giving players their money's worth.
