The End of Hack and Slash Warfare games in the West?

For those who don’t know what Hack and Slash Warfare is, it’s a term that Ozzie has been using to refer to games such as Dynasty/Samurai Warriors and Sengoku Basara. Due to the fact that they really should have their own genre from regular hack and slash games. However things are starting to look grim on this front for fans of these style of games. Cancellations, poor marketing, and lack of support on the systems the game's main fans use has plagued these games over the past year or so. Wonder what Ozzie is talking about? Let’s begin the discussion shall we?

Koei need some new ideas, listen to the feedback from its audience.

Personally it seems like koei keep throwing the same thing at us.

SW1->SW2 was actually a step up
DW3->DW4 was a step up
DW4->DW6 felt like an step down to me
*Haven't played DW7*

DW4 was NOT a step up from DW3. DW3 was one of the greatest video games ever made. It was revolutionary. Its been all down hill since then because of lack of innovation, and staleness.

Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce

The Dynasty Warriors series is often accused of becoming stagnant. The strategic elements added to the level design are great, but sometimes seem more like hard work than fun on single player mode. Taking this game online for co-op was pretty great, but again the strategic aspect of this game becomes fairly simple once you figure out the mission at hand. The game has weapon specific special attacks (between one to three per weapon) which are powerful, useful, and cool, but there are not enough of them and it becomes repetitive solving various situations the same way. Dynasty Warriors fans will love this game, but a lot is holding..."

Well written review, imo. It's just too bad that Dynasty Warriors has been falling off :\

I kinda saw this one coming. The series is in dire need of a reboot, and porting a handheld title to a console isn't it.
