The Gran Tursimo 5 demo is now available for download on the Japanese Playstation Store.
Gonna go get it right now.
It'll be hard for Poly to beat the masterpiece that is Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec but I have faith in them. :)
"1% Downloading" Damn! Curse my lousy internet connection! ;_;
Just started downloading, it says 20min to download and i have a 8mb line, their servers must be getting raped. Lol as soon as i seen this article i jumped out of my chair and logged into jpn psn and started to download.
It's downloading pretty quick 70%. To bad its not the full build, should be fun anyways, it'll give me a brake from GT5P.
21%... :( *plays Ratchet and Clank ACiT to pass the time*
I can't DL 'cause I'm at work, make me jealous.
Best lap 1:40:534 in tuned car so far(ps3 controller)
At 70% i can't wait!
PD has surpassed GT5P physics. The physics has improved dramatically! I mean it feels absolutely good now. No other racing game felt as real as this. As far as graphics go, there are almost no signs of aliasing anymore. Smooth and locked @ 60FPS. Damn PD exceeded my expectations.
brb PSN :D
Im lovin it already.
3 hours early, nice
This demo is really crap
Troll harder next time. Thank you.
ok,this is my first time ever playing a GT game before. my question, is why are the cars out of control? im going 20 mph around a corner and im sliding out and all over the place...i cant figure out a way to control it,even with the brake and ebrake. any suggestions?
I guess you have never played a racing simulator before. This is how cars in real life would handle. Games like need for speed and all those have exagerated suspension and traction, that no car in real life would have.
that game is terrible looking. and im a ps3 fanboy.
it's not about the graphics, it's about the physics.
If you were a PS3 fanboy then you would know this bit of info ~ "someone with access to the demo also received an email from Sony that wanted to **emphasize this is not a demo of Gran Turismo 5** and is only being released for GT Academy. Polyphony Digital has also posted a new press release, clearly stating the demo was **"specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine"** and nothing more." The demo was confirmed to be a "gimped" version correct? I mean it's clear when you see cars in the background that resemble boxes, but I just wanted to be sure. Also, I don't play racing games, but is this the first time "joystick" acceleration/breaking has been utilized in such a game, because to me it seems to lend awesome control over using a face button!
It's only 201MB, so I think we should expect downgraded visuals. It's been confirmed that this isn't a demo for GT5. It's just a Time Trial challenge that shows off their brand new physics engine and for people who want to compete for the best time and have a chance to join a real professional racing team hence the name they gave this demo: "GT Academy"
Every GT has the 2 stick control. I wish every racing game did this. You can map the button layout for every full GT release. The 2 stick control is the default control.
previous GT racers had right analog stick acceleration/ braking even midnight club los angeles had right analog stick acceleration/ braking
Ah, ok about physics demo confirmation And you're sure about the stick thing? I recently found GT4 for FOUR DOLLARS! and I don't believe I used the right analogue stick for that, but then I again I hadn't played it much. Either way, it's new to me and I love it.
Thanks to everyone else for correcting any of my misconceptions about the demo!
i find it hard steer the car around corners at 40mph is it just me??
You don't drive a car into a corner at 40 MPH... That's around 64 KPH I believe. Pretty fast for a corner, but it depends on the angle. On a corner ranked 1-3 of course its going to be hard. Anything above 3 you can get away with, but don't go into a 1-3 at 40 MPH unless your intent is to drift into it.
The screen is stretched out (road map sticks out), and the graphics look pretty bland compared to GT 5 Prologue; I guess they downgraded it, either that or its not displaying the resolution correctly. Anyone else have this problem?
Apparently it's only 201 MB for a reason, just to display the physics advances, not the visuals.
there a turn at the end of the straight way to the right there tires stacked i crash into them my car bounce right off but tires did not move like i never crash into them Note someone else do it if u think im lying
Back to Forza 3 for me, and I realize it's just a demo, before the fanboys start crying.
Yea, back to your arcade racing game "Forza 3"
It's not a a graphics demonstration or something and why the hell do you think it's 201MB. What is 201MB to a full 50GB Racing game? Nothing! ~Below: NO!
wasn't the GT5 prologue demo less then a gig also?
HOLY [email protected]!! My internets goes down for 1 day and i come back to find this out *runs to ps3 and starts the download*
One word - subtle. Since the steering and brake can't be tuned, best be early with the brakes and be gentle when turning that's what I noticed. Tuned Z-car is actually more easier to "man"handle than normal version. I still wish it was the Subaru WRC trial demo with damage-mode capability that was handed over for download...
- physics = awesome ( i think the best i have ever played) - sound = awesome (no more that random noisy tires) - head movement = epic fun - N3 tyres = crazy fun overall = very good, emproved alot from the prologue the physics have been improved heaps it is almost should i say "harder" and more"realistic" it feels more natural and the car reacts to every little movement. the head movement ZOMG when i went full on the main and went hard on brakes the whole car was shaking violently it was intense let me tell u it is hard to describe you just gotta try it this is by far the best physics i have ever played, better than any PC sim out there! as for the graphics, the demo represents only the physics and NOT the graphics
doubt it mate
Prologue was 5GB!
i thought it was 1.5 gb to download from the PSN store
Tryin to justify what u downloading. If forza is arcade then this must be the next generation arcade lol. Keep it spinning as much as you can. Enjoy
The first guy to mention Forza here was a 360 fanboy. Way to show how paranoid you are...
Tesselation 360 Dude i have forza3 and it's a great game as well. And it's fun and online is sweet. But it is not a Sim. Pc gamers would tell you the same thing. Yes the graphics are not as good as prologue, simple reason 221mb. It's also alot harder to drive then prologue. But it has full AA.:)
the droids think that the ygot a downgraded demo.. haha yesm sony releases a demo for the world to show a downgraded version of GT5, loL! wheres the logic?? i forgot, droids dont use logic.
http://www.gtplanet.net/the... "» This is a demonstration of Gran Turismo 5 and IT'S NEW PHYSICS ENGINE -- it is not just a new track or car inserted within the world of GT5: Prologue." Seriously, you trolls don't even try anymore >_>
