Good news for Assassin's Creed and it is good to see Uncharted 2 is holding steady in the UK as well.

Cyrax_873134d ago

But it goes to show that PS3 owners are more varied in their gaming and won't just flock to the same genre all the time.

Lucreto3134d ago

Shooters are not at big in Europe and games like Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2 and Ratchet and Clank sell better in Europe. There were exclusive collectors editions to all of them in Europe.

thereapersson3134d ago

I would prefer Assassin's Creed 2 over Modern Warfare 2 any day of the week.

PlayStation X3134d ago

R&C = Shooter
UC2 = Shooter

Doc Sony3134d ago

You think just because a game has guns it makes it a shooter ?

thereapersson3134d ago

I think he was referring mainly to First Person Shooters, or war games. Not action-adventure games like R&C. Besides, R&C is primarily a platforming game at heart, so it's catered to a different demographic.

presto7173134d ago

Assassin's creed 2 is way better.

vhero3134d ago

@Cyrax_87 - thats exactly right PS3 owners are not just a bunch of shooter fans like 360 owners.

Lucreto3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

@PlayStation X

I would consider Uncharted 2 an action adventure and Ratchet a platformer with gun play elements. They are not just shoot the bad guy and continue.

You beat me to it.

Skip_Bayless3134d ago

Wow you playstation fans dissapoint me. Assasins Creed 2 is a rental and Modern Warfare 2 is a buy.

Limited_Vertigo3134d ago

The 360 is a "PCGamer without a good video-card's" Paradise.

The PS3 offers a more varied experience and evidently ACII looks more enjoybale than a 5hr campaign and typical online frag fest.

thereapersson3134d ago

60 dollars for a glitched-out, broken online experience, complimented by a pathetic 6 hour single-player campaign?

Seriously, that was a good joke. Well, it HAD to be a joke, right?

BWS19823134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

yet, but my fiance is getting me one for Christmas, and it doesn't have "modern" in the title.

I wonder if this sales trend has anything to do with the fact that one of the publishers between the games also happened to tell Sony to piss off and threaten total support of the platform for its high price meanwhile peddling an overpriced, low-rated skateboard "game"...Hmm, no, that wouldn't anger the PS3 community...

Limited_Vertigo3134d ago

6hrs for you?

Only took me a little over 5hrs but under a minute to uninstall :)

Skip_Bayless3134d ago

No i'm not joking. I just finished the single player campaign today for MW2 and I got the game during launch. I bought it for the multiplayer. I'm suprised I actually beat the single player this fast because single player shooter campaigns are boring.

Now I have not play AC2, but it's a rental because I can probably beat it in 2 weeks and there's no replay value.

mdt hunter3134d ago

assasins creed 2 was a beautiful experience

Limited_Vertigo3134d ago

Mr. Madden if you're happy with your purchase than congrats but don't expect anyone to respect your viewpoints when you admit to never playing one of the games being discussed here.

Ignorance must surely be bliss if you find the MW2 multiplayer worth 60 dollars. As an avid PC gamer I can assure you there is far more rewarding experiences out there for far less. Hell CounterStrike offers a better experience and has been for 10 years now, the kicker it was FREE.

I'll soon be throwing my money at a game that deserves my money, BC2.

Hellsvacancy3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

I bought Assassins Creed 2 day-1 (Plated a week later) and rented MW2

I was only interested in the single player campaign 4 MW2 and as i knew it wont last any longer then say 6-7 hours it had 2 b a rental

boodybandit3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

@1.9 "I would consider Uncharted 2 an action adventure and Ratchet a platformer with gun play elements. They are not just shoot the bad guy and continue."

@1.10 "Wow you playstation fans dissapoint me. Assasins Creed 2 is a rental and Modern Warfare 2 is a buy."

MW2 is the 2nd most glitch ridden game I have played this generation and I am playing it less with each passing day. If not for my friends I would have already moved on. MW2 is extremely broken and over rated.

AC2 is a huge improvement over the original and one of the better games I have played this year.

leyego3134d ago

a little fun fact.

every FPS fanatic on my blist is in some way appart of the army or wants to be apart of the army.

sikbeta3133d ago

This is something Me and every PS owner are saying from the beginning and every time a guy comes and say "but it doesn't sell like teh X game"

For PS supporters, VARIETY is the way to go

Xeoset3133d ago

...The Xbox 360 users in the UK's top three games were an FPS, a Racing Sim and an Adventure Game.

Slightly more varied than the stuff you're trying to spout =/

Baka-akaB3133d ago (Edited 3133d ago )

@John Madden

I'm really really glad we dissapointed you . And i hope it will remain so in the future .

Hoggy19833133d ago

"All Xbox owners only buy FPS" be quiet.
I think the distinction I would make is that the Xbox 360 is heavily driven by its online community. Games that tend to drive online community interaction are FPS (clans, team deathmatches etc). It doesn't mean that other game genres (e.g Forza 3) aren't very much appreciated.

Second point....if MW2 only took you 5 or 6 hours then maybe you should have played it on a suitable difficulty setting? Hardened or Veteran perhaps?

StanLee3133d ago

What I don't understand is, how are there more PS3 gamers bought Assassin's Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 than bought Uncharted 2?! O_o

raztad3133d ago (Edited 3133d ago )

Why is so hard to understand?

Both games are huge franchises with a huge budget for marketing.

Quality =/= Sales.

UC2 could do better with a bigger marketing behind, but with the load of first/second party games I doubt Sony can afford it.

nix3133d ago

while others paid to beta test for MW2. q:

table3133d ago (Edited 3133d ago )

I think also with multiplats there is a lot more word of mouth. If someone you know has it on the other console it may be recommended to you and there may be numerous occasions for the game to catch your attention or you may want to experience the same game as your friends. Then take advertising into account which works even when you don't own the console it's advertised for therefore resulting in a lot more exposure. This will be less the case with exclusives unless it is big names like MGS or Halo.

I still think people worry about sales too much though when back in the day, even when people were arguing, it was arguments about the games not the sales... until Microsoft poked its nose in.

gintoki7773133d ago

well now im definetly not going to buy this game just because so many people are buying it......great

shawnsl653133d ago

nice to see how well assassin's creed II is doing. I haven't played it yet.. only have the budget and time to buy 1 game from now til January, which I will be buying DarkSiders. February and March is going to be 2 insane months for 2010. Look at the game line up we're all going to have #_#

Action GO FIGURE3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed 2 more than Modern Warfare 2 - very close to getting a platinum trophy. Now we wait for the DLC...

thereapersson3134d ago

I haven't had the chance to play it yet. How repetitive are the missions when compared to the first game? I never even beat the first AC because I got tired of doing the same thing over and over again.

Keowrath3134d ago (Edited 3134d ago )

I was the same as you mate. The original disappointed me so much that I wasn't at all interested in the sequel. I never finished it either and it's one of the VERY few games that I've traded in.

A friend lent it to me this past weekend and the game is 10 x better than the original. There's a lot more to do than just the same 4 missions over and over.

Money to but new stuff, armour, weapons, health potions, scrolls to upgrade weapons need to be found, you can pick pocket people, hire courtesans to distract others.

I only saw/played the game for 3 hours but in that time I could tell it has much improved over the original, seems that Ubisoft listened to the people and acted accordingly.

thereapersson3134d ago

Have a bubble for your constructive post :)

Glad to hear it's actually worth the cash this time around!

Limited_Vertigo3134d ago

I agree here's a bubble Keo.

peowpeow3134d ago

The first 2 or 3 hours might feel a bit slow but don't worry, after that things pick up and the fun factor increases 10 fold (imo anyway).

I am one of those people that loved AC1, even finished it twice. AC2 I think is one of my top games

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 3134d ago

love AC2, my single player game of the year for 2009 overall. well done to them.

dredgewalker3134d ago

Hmmm i wonder if AC2 is that good cause i was so let-down by the first one.

PJ3133d ago

I didn't finish the first either but have nearly played entirely through the second. AC2 is an excellent game.

dredgewalker3133d ago

thanks, i think im gonna buy this game if you guys enjoyed it.

creepjack3134d ago

"1.1 - This actually surprised me.
But it goes to show that PS3 owners are more varied in their gaming and won't just flock to the same genre all the time. "

Spoken like a true fanboy.

bjornbear3134d ago

sorry to burst your bubble but if you see over all sales tendencies on each console, you will see the PS3 actually does have the most varied and balanced game sales out of the 3 =)

its a common fact: PS3 only owners don't think alike as much as other console devoutee's

thereapersson3134d ago

The highest-grossing games this generation for the 360 ARE primarily shooters. Gears of War (1&2) Halo 3, Modern Warfare (1&2), etc. If you look at PS3 top-sellers, there are a larger variety of genres involved, but the sales numbers aren't as high. That probably shows that PS3 gamers spread their purchases out over a longer period of time, based off the fact that most PS3 games have extraordinarily long legs.

Personally, I think it was a bit "narrow" of a statement, but I can still understand what he was saying.

redsquad3134d ago

People have been saying what Cyrax said for some time - PS3 isn't a one-trick pony that relies on one game (or genre) to carry it. These figures pretty much reinforce that, so what's the problem in reiterating it? He didn't say it in a nasty way, he just stated the facts as he saw them - I happen to agree.
