The Church dilemma: Sony's response

The recent scandal between the Church of England and SCEE was quite unexpected. Here's Sony's side of the coin.

In the most recent official statement, Sony said: "Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is aware of the concerns expressed by the Bishop of Manchester and the cathedral authorities... and we naturally take the concerns very seriously."Hit jump to read the full story

it was the correct response, after all the game is not based in event that happen in real life.

yeah stick it to the catholic church, if sony went every route to get permission to use the scenes and such then the catholic church has nothing to say about it, specially if their gripe is violence, the bible is more violent then every game out there combined.

Not to mention Catholics have no room to talk about violence. Those bastards killed so many people it's not even funny.

Oh, I agreed with you. Not sure what retard clicked disagree.

Agreed. I think this is about as level-headed and mature as a response to a claim like this could be.

SimmoUK3514d ago

It's been all over the BBC and ITV news in the UK the main channel's, it's all free publicity remember the uproar that GTA caused and then look how good it did after, the media have been open minded and there has only been complaints from a few church goers thereselves...

Rybnik3514d ago

Nice, its good to hear the media aren't slamming Sony as much, lately!

shysun3514d ago

I just lost any and all respect for the church after watching that.:(

i hope you realize the church separated itself from Rome in 1534, during the reign of King Henry VIII. The Diocese of Manchester is a diocese of the Church of England in the Province of York. It was founded in 1847, having previously been part of the Diocese of Chester. The Diocese of Blackburn was split off in 1926. What does Rome have to do with this article?
